And the Heat had virtually noone signed when they got the big 3. They obviously didn't need to give back salary. The Lakers are more than 20 million over the cap you genius.

Am pretty sure the Lakers used the trade exception they got from the Odom trade to Dallas. That's how they were able to take Nash's salary.

What I'm interested to see is how Kobe reacts to playing with a great PG. Hasn't played with a good/great PG (unless you count Olympics) since Van Exel, and that was still in his infant years. Should be fun either way.

I put that up being facetious but then did a quick look at his stats before LA and in LA. GP was coming off a 20 ppg, 8 ass season with about 39 mpg and Nash put up 12.5 ppg, 10.7 ass in 31.6 mpg... GP was also younger.

GP certainly had a fairly quick decline from elite to role player and Nash is producing at a high level but still - interesting imo.

If my memory serves me correctly GP and Kobe didn't mesh that well together. That's why I'm not ready to count this as a home run move yet.

Although the difference in playing styles between Nash and Payton could be a factor. Payton was more of a scoring PG while Nash primarily looks to set others up.

Correct
And I think this trade takes the Lakers straight to the #2 contentder in the West (behind OKC)

Jason Kidd has agreed to sign with the Knicks on a three-year, $9 million deal, according to sources.
Kidd will presumably backup Jeremy Lin if he is ultimately retained as expected.
The Mavericks were confident they were moving toward a deal with Kidd.

Jesus! 3 million a year x 3 for 39 year old kid? I know its so he can teach Lin but a 3 year deal?

Jamal Crawford and Chauncey Billups have agreed to sign with the Clippers.
Crawford is expected to sign a four-year, $25 million deal with bonuses, according to Marc J. Spears.
Billups' deal could be worth as much as $4.3 million.
The Clippers are no longer in the running for Ray Allen.

Good pick ups for the Clipps but they need better bigs still imo. Still they have a slick rotation with CP3, Billups, Bulter, Griffin, Jordon with Odom, Crawford and
Bledsoe.

Anyone hear where the Clippers are interested in Dwight Howard?

Package of Bledsoe, Butler & DeAndre Jordan for Dwight & Hedo

That wouldn't be a bad deal for both imo.

Expect for the magic!!!

Butler - ugh, Jordon alright but flawed and Bledsoe is filler. Small upside but ugh... Bynum or even Lopez alone > that deal. Only ways the clips get Dwight is giving up griffin...

The clips won't go after Dwight, they will more than likely sign Ryan hollins on vet minimum and s squeeze in under the luxury tax if it goes through and not have to amnesty Gomes although he will be lucky to see any court time. Saddened to see my man Reggie Evans sign and traded, loved his effort but life goes on.

Big Mick, I thought Le Bron wlked no sign and trade he was an UFA and unlike Nash who agreed to the sign and trade with the suns so they got something out of it after all these years even though he didn't have to I think James just walked. If he was a ST who did Cleveland get in the deal or picks. I may be wrong but think he just walked and only told them a few minutes before his announcement. Quality guy.

From my understanding both Bosh and James were Sign and Trades so they could get bigger contracts than just signing outright as FA's.

The Cavs & Raptors got multiple first round picks and trade exceptions as a result.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Ray Allen has informed Boston that he has decided to sign with Miami, league source tells Y! Sports.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
This, after Heat owner Mickey Arison just tweeted a "Welcome to Miami No. 20."

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
One source close to Ray Allen said in past few hours, "Ray's thinking about another ring, golf, sun as a way to end his career."

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Privately, Ray Allen had insisted to people that he didn't believe the city of Boston would be too hard on him for signing with Miami.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Allen believes the capital he's built up playing for UConn and the Celtics would supercede signing with Miami. He's probably misjudged that.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
The deterioration of Ray Allen's relationship with Rajon Rondo played a significant factor in his leaving for Miami, several sources tell Y!

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
As Y! had reported, Allen was angry w/ near-trade to Memphis at deadline. Too much acrimony to get past. Off to Miami for less money.

Boston has disowned him already.
