Yeah true - he'd probably thrive being the third or fourth option considering some of the playoff stinkers he's thrown up at Utah.

Given all that's happened, would appear to come down to Cavs or Nets for LBJ. Not sure the Bulls have enough to offer a max contract, ditto Miami after Wade and Bosh. Knicks could offer the max but if you're leaving Cleveland, you'd choose Nets over Knicks surely? Lopez, Harris, Favors or Stoudemire and ?????

Although don't the Clippers still have cap space....?!

Durant has also signed a 5 year $86m extension. Great news for the Thunder, locking KD up. A couple more pieces (a low post threat and some more shooters) and they're going to be very, very good.

NBA has set the salary cap at $58,044,000, which is higher than expected. Tax is set at $70,300,000.

And just on that Bosh never out of the first round comment - he's only ever won THREE playoff games. In seven years in the league. That's why I had other guys ranked ahead of him in my FA list earlier, he just has never delivered. Maybe he's had some ordinary teammates, but LeBron with a sh*t side in 2007 made the Finals. Can understand teams chasing LeBron and Wade hard but could never understand the hype around Bosh.

The rumours are Lebron is going to the Knicks, Jarrod Dudley (suns) announced it on his twitter and i expected him to after Amare signing, not shocked but i doubt he wins anything anytime soon there

Well if thats the case, i feel sorry for the Nets, they have all that money to spend and because they have been sitting back waiting on LB they miss all the good players, Davis Lee is the only one left really, the Suns can have him.

The Nets may have to sign RJ and few others and use them as trade bait to try get Granger and a SG, the talk was they would trade Harris and Favors for Granger, i don't think thats a good idea.

Bosh to Miami has been the talk for a long time, so no surprise their, Boozer to the Bulls as well.

I hope David Lee does go to NJN but there is talk of him going to GSW and if he does well the Nets will basically have no-one.

Considering I don't really follow a NBA team as players chop and change a fair bit I have a soft spot for both the Nets and the Thunder.

If the Nets pick up a Danny Granger or David Lee, I think they will be my team for the 2010/11 season.

Ray Allen returning to the Celtics on a two year $10m contract, second year will be player option.

Fair deal IMO. They made the Finals with KG PP & Ray so why not re-tool for one or two more shots. Fair value at that price, and I think it coincides (if he opts in next year) with when KG comes off the books as well.

Along with that news comes this;

Jermaine O'Neal is leaning towards signing with the Celtics, sources tell Yahoo! Denver is still in the running, however.

And Sheed could possibly rethink his retirement. The C's need to get younger and I don't think adding O'Neal(Who is DONE imo) doesn't help that problem. Though I think he could still contribute defensively I just don't like the fit on such an old team even though he would not be expected to do much.

I agree on JO - in that playoff series against Boston he was terrible, only shot 20.5% (9 of 44), despite upping his FG% in the regular season, which was quite surprising in itself and basically a result of career-best shoting from outside of 10 feet, something I'll happily bet won't happen again. Considering more than half his shots were from that distance, it's safe to say his days of shooting above 50% from the field are over.

The guy's only value is as a defensive centre and even then he's slipped quite a bit in that area over the past 4 years, with his total defensive plays (steals, blocks and charges) declining every year from 4.19 per game in 2007 to only 2.14 in 2010. Even adjusting for his minutes per game, the numbers aren't good.

I'd say he's got 1 year left in him as the 4th big man. Denver makes sense because that's exactly what he'd be, maybe Boston if they also bring back Big Baby.

I recon that'd be a great signing for the Celtics. O'Neal off the bench in limited minutes will make him one of the best 2nd unit centres in the league...

I agree with you Mclovin, i think off the bench where he will only play 15-20mins a game, he can still produce and help a team out but if he signs and Sheed doesnt retire they are stacked with some big men (but Perkins may miss start of the season).

Now, I love my NBA [even though I love the NBL more]. I have followed it since about 1996-97. One thing I still can’t understand is the salaries, salary cap, contracts etc.

I WANT to understand it but am struggling big time.

Here are some examples:
01. Why would Phoenix want to give Channing Frye a pay increase of $4,010,000.00 per season?
02. Why would Toronto want to give Amir Johnson a pay increase of $2,858,333.00 per season?
03. The same with Phoenix chasing Hakim Warrick and offering him an extra $1,500,000.00 per season?

I know Jermaine O’Neal and Tracy McGrady were or still on big money, what’s going to happen with their contracts now? Are they off contract?

01. Frye was good this season and probably deserved a pay rise.
02. Toronto have lost Bosh and need all the bigs they can get, still a really bad contract though.
03. Phoenix have lost Stoudemire, I dont think they can get the quality of FA's some other teams can, so Warrick might be their best bet.

Their contracts are up, they're free agents.

Warrick wont be too bad playing with Nash, i expect him to have some nights where he pads up his stats. Also, with alot of teams having cap room & players not coming, teams will overpay to the remaining to at least get something from free agency.

Also Jermaine & McGrady are both free agents and are rumoured to be joining contending teams. O'Neal i think will end up on the Celtics and i hope the Lakers can figure out a way to get T-Mac

Warrick is an entirely respectable offensive players. Quick, good finisher around the rim and decent range on his jumper. A truly horrible defensive player though.

On an offensive team like the Suns he'll be fine and be a poor man's Stoudemire.

As for Frye, he only made around $1m this year I think and is worth more than that given his 3-point shooting. The Raptors move I don't understand.....yeah they're losing Bosh but Johnson isn't a replacement player at that kind of money.
