Always gotta look on the bright side guys. At least we'll get a good lotto pick out of this....Oh wait....
Brutal huh

Suns are laughing all the way to the bank. The worst part is the suns probably would have accepted protection for top 10 say because really who would of called this.

Who would have thought that the Suns may have won the Steve Nash trade .

Although in fairness they did have some leverage in that the Lakers couldn't have signed Nash unless the Suns agreed to the S&T.

I have nothing else to say on the Lakers this year, it's just been a disaster. Ill just enjoy each game from now on and not worry about anything else cause it certainly looks like we ain't going nowhere.

On that note, I love Pau and all he has done for us but out of all players he just doesn't fit and should go. Take whatever you can get for him now, 2 solid rotation guys (especially a SF) with athleticism will suit this team better

This is true

Dwightmare  .. Really I do wonder how LA gets out of this. If they had their pick I don't think they would make a move but I can't see them missing the play offs and giving a lotto pick to the suns.

Dwightmare 2.0. Bigger and better than ever!

Pau seems like the obvious piece to be moved. It's kinda sad. I actually think he still has something left in the tank if he could play C consistently. I'm not saying he'd suddenly turn into 2010 Pau (as he's obviously regressed since then), but I don't think he's completely done. He's just such a terrible fit with D'Antoni and with Dwight on the roster, there's no real place for him on the team.

The issue is who is going to take Paus 19m contract. At this stage a lot of your trading partners will say they want compensation for taking such a contact. That the burden of his contract outweighs what he can do.

They'll probably expect you to take an ugly long term contract in return. And the Lakers FO seems to be trying to build space for 2014 when a number of big stars are FA's and they can build a team around Dwight and someone like Lebron.

Pau can go to most teams and be a 15/10 centre and after this season he is a expiring contract worth 19 mill. Someone will take him but who knows what they will get for him.

Of all the fantasy trades I have seen I have only really seen one where I thought something could get done::

Gasol, Meeks for Ellis, Gooden and Dalembert

This gives the Lakers a scorer in Ellis, moves Kobe fulltime to the 3 and gives them some shot blocking in Dalembert who replaces Hill. The downside is they would be stuck with Gooden but he can be a handy big off the bench for them.

Bucks do it as Ellis has reportedly said he wants out and it gets them out of Gooden and Dalembert is sitting on the bench.

Only other option is trade Howard which would be f**king amazing if they actually gave up on him so quickly. As interesting as it is I think the it is more interesting to see what the C's do. Try and trade Rondo for Cousins?

Like Special K said, his contract becomes an expiring contract next year so I don't think it's too undesirable from a monetary aspect. The issue is more how poorly Pau has played this season, and whether teams are willing to take a chance on him regaining some of his old form.

You add this with the fact that, like you mentioned, the Lakers are also unwilling to take on any long term contracts and it really narrows down the field on who they could get for Pau. If any Pau trade does happen, I'd imagine that I'd probably be pretty disappointed with the yield as it would probably be for a bunch of role players.

Given the Kings position, I doubt their front office will (or be allowed to?) make any major moves like that.

Probably not until the off season but it will be interesting to see what they do with that squad. A fresh start to me would be moving Cousins and Evans for picks and talent.

Dwight is wise to milk this injury and miss the rest of the season. Lakers are going nowhere and the team needs to be blown up

I dunno, I can't see the Celtics trading Rondo. He's still young and good enough to build a team around and when Garnett retires (at the end of this season or next I'm guessing) they can try pick up a quality big in FA.

The Kings should be looking to build around Cousins.

Who knows though, stranger things have happened.

Despite being a LA Lakers tragic, I was gutted to learn whilst at the gym this morning of Rondo's injury. Such a shame. I love watching the Celtics and I love watching Rondo do his thing. There will be some TOUGH decisions to be made by the decision makes in Boston.

On the subject of my Lakers, wow. Missed the game though will watch it on NBA.TV at some stage this afternoon. I loved what I am hearing as well the look of the box score. Kobe in the past two games is playing how we need him to play. Distribute, take over when or if it's needed. Let go of the NBA scoring title hopes and we are going to make the playoffs despite the hole we're in.

Back-to-back wins is a good step forward for an ordinary looking team for the most part. On twitter I called our Utah win a "turning point". A win over the West's best confirms we're on the right track and I may be proven right. Time will tell.

One of the best wins the Lakers have had in a couple of years, they have finally found their identity and I hope they can keep it up from now on. The game Kobe played today was near perfect, it was honestly just beautiful to watch. The passing, the movement, his D on westbrick and picking his moments on offense were just perfect today.

Still, a very long way to go. We dug ourselves a massive hole but if they keep playing as they have the last two games then who knows what can happen.

A deal for the Memphis Grizzlies to send Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors has been agreed upon, according to sources.

The Raptors will send out Jose Calderon and Ed Davis for Gay and Hamed Haddadi.

The Pistons will acquire Calderon, with the Grizzlies receiving Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye.

The Grizzlies will also receive a second round pick from the Raptors.

Toronto is likely to waive Haddadi following a buyout, reports Ken Berger of CBS Sports.

The Grizzlies will save $5.8 million this season and $26.4 million over three season before factoring in potential luxury tax ramifications.

I see Raptor fans are unhappy with this as it keeps them in the middle of a pack rather then rebuilding but I think they win this trade and if I was them I would also do it. Grizzlies are being screwed by their tight owner.

edit - ok the deal is done.

Bit better for the Grizzlies but Prince is done. It will be really weird watching him play for a new team.

Talent wise the Raptors win but as you said, given their current situation I'm not too big on the deal. I wonder how much of a factor that OKC have their pick (as long as it's not top 3) had on the deal. Doubt they'd make this kind of deal if they had their lotto pick this year.
