Dont get too excited. Durant and Oden are franchise caliber players not sure about Yi yet.

IF Yi is only just 20 (and I think he is) he'll be better then Durant but Oden is a different matter.

Durant is only 19 and averaging 24 a game to go with 6 rebounds (so far). I reckon Yi is 23 btw

Durants got a liscence to shoot (and he does it very, very well) but I wonder if he'll ever be as good on the defensive side of the ball. Yi's defence is suprisingly good already (shut down Bargani and Bosh yesterday, though Bogut did most of the damage on Bosh) and all the information Ive got from posters from China is that Yi really is 19.

People said the same thing about MJ as a rook. He ended up becoming the best defensive player in the league.

The sky really is the limit for Yi. He's getting 2 blocks a game on raw talent alone and I doubt Ive seen a prettier jump-shot. Ray Allen at 7ft.

Maybe the fact that Yi is Chinese makes it harder for peole to accept that he's every bit the prospect Durant is, more-so in my opinion.

You can't possibly mean that...

With all due respect to Chinese people (not quite sure why the race card was played there, seeing as people love Yao), there are dozens of NBA/NCAA players who have a nicer shooting stroke than Yi.

Furthermore, 44% doesn't make you a great shooter. Hell, Yao Ming shoots a better FG% than that, as well as a better FT%, more points, more blocks, more rebounds. Though I would personally like to see Yi thrive in the NBA, Kevin Durrant has a lot more upside potential to him right now than Yi does. No offence.

I dont think you realise, no one has official evidence on Yi's actual age, he claims to be 19 but hes somewhere in the range of 19-23. If he is 19 now that means he was 16 playing in the olympics, which I don't know if I can believe.

Got to agree with coconut here. Have you not seen Dirk Nowitzki play, he is 7 foot. I mean Yao if a very very good shooter and I'd say better than Yi if left open.

Take this analogy... If Kevin Durant is Kobe and Greg Oden is Shaq that makes Yi a Rick Fox at best.

None taken, its only an opinion. But I respectfully disagree. And its precisely because of his race that people doubt his potential.

I can guarantee you there are not dozens of players who have a better looking shot then Yi, plus at 7ft the things unblockable, gives him the edge over those sweet shooting 6-6"6"er's. Theres a nice package of his shot in the Raptors forum at realgm in the Bargani-Yi thread, go take a look, somewhere around pages 14-19.

And Panther Gold I dont live under a rock, Im aware of all the mystery of Yis age. Are you aware that he had a bone-scan done on his wrist which showed he was the age that is claimed and as for playing in the Olympics at 16, well Chinas not exactly overflowing with great talent so If he's good enough at that age why wouldnt you pick him.

Lol at Yao a better shooter then Yi, I think Yao would even laugh at that.

Ummmmmmm, did I say that Yao was a better shooter or did I say that Yao had a better FG%? :sarcasm:

I said if left wide open.

When your 7'6" and you shott 87% from the stripe you cant deny that they have a good shot. Yao has very much expanded his game away from the bucket and is automatic from 15foot. From what I've seen of Yi he needs to play more like a 7footer than a 6'5" SG. And I still stand by my point that Dirk at 7foot is a better shooter overall than Yi. Grant Yi is still young and will develop but yeah... I dont think its a race thing rather than a talent thing.

Personally, if I'm coaching/paying bills as an owner, I don't care how the shot looks as long as the person is making it. See Kevin Martin Rules 101 for more details.

Or Shawn Marrion. Both very awkward looking shooting styles.

I haven’t seen Yi play yet, but too be a better and more fluent shooter then Nowitzki or Yao, he'd have to be pretty damn good.

Still room on Yi bandwagon if you want to jump on board. 7/12(2/2 3pt/) 19p, 9rb,1blk. Bucks might of won if there guards werent so damn shot-happy.

 nah, I've never liked the Bucks, especially now that they're giving Charlie V half the minutes he was getting in his rookie year which is killing my fantasy team. :fist:

He'd be a great fit in San Antonio should he be put on the trade block. :)

Yeah i feel sorry for CV, but he just doesnt play enough defence to warrant a start over YI. I still think he can get his coming off the bench and I would expect him to be traded, probably in the offseason. I could definatley see him winding up in a place like LA, Denver or Philly or even GSW.

Charlie-V is a good trade commodity. Kids got alot of potential, very big very skilled. Remember when he dropped 45 points? I think any team willing to give him minutes can make a real scorer out of him.
