NBA Season 2010-2011

Just checked the T-Wolves roster on hoops hype and I'm guessing that their aim is to keep a low cap figure and have no big contracts on their roster (Beasley is the highest earner at $4.9 mill). Projects to be that way for a while as most of their active players are also under contract for next season as well.

This season their cap is at $45.4 mill and in 2011/2012 it projects to be at 41.7 mill.

The 2012/2013 season may end up being a make-or-break season for them as that's when Love can be a free agent, as well as them having numerous players with team options or a qualifying offer (Beasley, Flynn, Wesley Johnson, Webster, Ellington).

They could potentially have alot of cap space that summer, although as we saw this off-season, cap space doesn't guarantee quality players.
But they're all players they drafted or traded for, so why wouldn't they execute the options? I mean, I could understand why they wouldn't given that some of the players aren't that great, but wouldn't that just be admitting to the fans that they had NFI / no plan for the previous 4 years?

Flynn and Wes Johnson will probably have their options picked up (since the T-Wolves drafted them with high picks)) but I don't think they would be under any pressure with Beasley or Webster.

I see Beasley as a free rental since they got him for free basically. If he pans out, great. If he doesn't, they can just dump him at the end of 2011/2012. Ellington's option is fairly small ($2 mill in 2012/2013) so either way he's not going to hold things up.

Another thing to consider about the T-Wolves is the flexibility they'll have with the CBA negotiations coming up. They should be relatively immune to any potential changes that are made (i.e. lower cap, hard cap, change in salary structures etc).

If they've done everything they've done over the last 2 years to prepare for a potential change in how the salary cap works, then that's a big eff you to all their fans for two years of absolute putrid-ness IMO.

Well in his letter to T-Wolves fans in the pre-season, he did say;

"So will we challenge for the NBA championship this year?"

"Not likely."

Now everyone knows this, but Kahn admitting it publicly clearly states that the T-Wolves (organisation at least) are planning for some more tough years ahead.

I didn't say that the potential upcoming CBA changes was the reason for their moves, was more stating that it was a factor to consider. As I said, I think their prime goals were to acquire cheap young assets, stay well under the cap and remain flexible for the future. Which they've done.

Now I'm not watching it, but the Pacers have just gone past 50 points in a single quarter (3rd) against the Nuggets, with Mike Dunleavy exploding for 5 3-pointers, a few other jumpers and some trips to the line (including two trips to the line on a 3-point attempts). By my count he just had a 24 point quarter!

They nearly went perfect for the quarter!!! 20 field goals made from 21 attempts.

Effing McRoberts. Missed a 3 on the final possession in the 3rd. That surely would have been an NBA record?

Nor did I say you did. My comment in reply was just simply that if that is the reason given should this hypothetical eventuate into reality, then it's ludicrous. And a big eff you to all Wolves fans.

I didn't expect them to challenge this year and there's posts I've made previously where I predict they'll likely only win around 20 games. All I'm getting at is there hasn't seemed to have been a plan for the past 18 months (or the plan has been very, very fluid) and should a couple of those hypotheticals play out, it would appear as though they continued for another couple of years without any real plan.

Wonder if anybody has Dunleavy in our FL? Hopefully they started him today!

Record for most points in a quarter is 58 so they just missed out on that, and most individual points record is 33, held jointly by Iceman & Melo (ironically).

NQ Magic has him. And yes he did start him. Would have been funny if he was on the waivers.

Bucks are also pumping the Knicks atm. Had a killer first quarter (41-19).

Atm it's 62-37 in the 2nd.

BOOYA Indy win 144-113. Dunleavy goes 9-13 and 6-10 3P for 31 points, Collison 12-14 field goals 4-5 3P for 29 points and 6 assists, Hibbert 6 rebounds and 17 points and Hansbrough makes 20 points off the bench. Melo went 5-15 for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. I like the look of our youth here hopefully they can close out the season instead of fading away like past years.

Sweet. Millsap makes a shot at the buzzer to send the Jazz vs Heat game into OT. Tied at 104. Dude is killing it.

Pity I can't tell you what shot he made because OneHD's feed is royally f**king up (or maybe it's just my feed?)

f**king amazing comeback from the Jazz. What a game!!! Heat really should have wrapped it up when they were up by 8 with something like 30 secs left.

Down 22 points in the 2nd quarter and still down by 8 points with 33 seconds to go in regulation. Amazing.
