He's not sh*t, however he's definitely overrated.

His positional play is usually very good, but isolate him and put him directly up against somebody with pace and intelligence and he can be f**king hopeless. Torres destroyed him earlier this year and he was terrible against Arsenal as well, so its not a one-off.

It depends on how strongly you mean the word over-rated. He was obviously the best defender in the world this season, but equally obviously he was nowhere near as good as Rio had been the previous two seasons, and Nesta was earlier in the decade. He did have a period where his form was up there with them (during the period when we were breaking the clean-sheet records), but over the course of the season he didn't stay at that level. His form started going down hill as soon as we let in a goal and lost our run of clean sheets (a few weeks before the Liverpool horror show). He just seemed to lose his concentration after that, and as his form slowly went south he started to lose his confidence.

That now or as in ever? If you mean right now, then you are wrong. Infact you would have to read that backwards to be even close. Vidic and Terry are good. Chiellini is not. Puyol is not a good defender. As for the other three, please, they wouldn't get into Sydneys football team now.

I'm only half joking. Maldini has retired so wouldn't , Nesta is always injured but probably would. Cannavaro has just re joined Juventus and been booed by his own fans cause they know he is rubbish.

Just because someone is Italian, doesn't mean they are automatically a good defender, especialy when they are in there mid thirties or in Maldinis case about 106!
