furthermore when bennett was advised by the nrl through his club board that he had to speak to the media, he displayed childish petulance in the form of yes or no answers - that was just disrespectful to the fans

in this case if bennett thought more carefully it should have been a couple of morons ruining it for themselves & their programme.

I would rather wayne not say anything...i wouldnt want him to add fuel to the fire like how Brown and Stg fuelled their dramas in the early part of the season

the queensland media went ape when brisbane missed the semis in 88-89, 91 & again in 95 & 96 & finally in the early stages of 99. he has bennefited from a successfull career (as he should.)
i don't mind bennett but i would be p*ssed off if i was playing for the broncos' juniors & darren smith was brought in ahead of me.

But how many clubs make the finals in their 1st 2 years in the comp ? And remember this was the Final 5 back then which was a helluva lot harder than it is now when teams are making it to the finals by winning just half of their games.

And Bennett's record speaks for itself. 5 premierships , making the finals 14 out of 17 years , Origin series victories , Aussies coach and so on. He knows what he is doing.

What does a coach usually say before a game Greg? they usually (99% of the time) talk dribble. All players and coaches talk dribble....the only one that doesnt is Mason and he is always in trouble for speaking his mind...now he too has banned all media.

The media are just a bunch of leeches...all of them....hooper, wilson, kent, ritchie, hawse, weidler. They dont promote the game, they just promote their hip pockets with their "scoops". If thats promoting the game then the game is is massive trouble. Do you think its their "sensational" reporting that is the result in RECORD crowd figures? I dont think so. Its all to with the play on the field and how each club has a chance of winning.

Bennet can do no wrong in the medias eyes because Brisbane have been doing reasonably well the last couple of years.

Now look at the Lions. 4 years in a row they made it to the grand final winning 3. Now they are having a bad start and the media has started up. It was the same in 1999 when the Broncos lost 8 in a row at the end of the season.

charlie - wayne bennett is clearly one of the most intelligent coaches this game has seen - his promotion of international league (tri series etc) proves his ability in this area.
a press conference & interview is not too taxing on his ability surely - he does it now without fainting

it what coaches say AFTER games that interests me - that's when coaches are called upon for press conferences & you are kidding if you think players are better equipped for this than coaches - sure some players are capable (webcke) but coaches are in the main - more mature, wise & responsible for the gameplans

thanks for stating the obvious ;-) doesn't bennett already ignore these tossers anyway? he speaks to respected media sources only - my reasoning is that it was wrong for him to forsake these respected sources in the form of a blanket ban.

Are you sure about that. In 1999 they lost to Cronulla in the 1st week of the Semis. Cronulla were minor premers and Brisbane finished in 8th place.

1999 they finished 8th after winning one of their first 10 games. They beat the rabbits and drew with NQ (alf retired aftwrwards) They did lose to the sharks as i stated in the semi

2003 they finished 8th and lost to the panthers in week one..They lost their last 8 games (including panthers game)

I am a broncos tragic...i know all about their history (sorry for sounding like a mundine, but its true)
