Bennett is the best coach in the modern era, he has won GF with 2 different teams, he got Souths to the GF and Newcastle to the Prelim' final, Bellamy and Robinson have only coached at the one club.
Robinson from what i have heard/read is the better tactical coach, compared to Bennett and Bellamy, i would take any of them over what we have or what is available.
Is the ability to mumble a pre-requisite for a top notch NRL coach? Hmmm.

My favourite player OT

Had an ordinary roster but also the ability to inspire.
When they were getting ready to take the immortals photo and the players started taking their places everyone other than the mortals windered who would be the captain.

That honour went to Changa and when Big Artie was asked later about that he said that decision was never in question and was unanimous.

Says it all.

If you have stan watch the Dolphins story. At about the 37th minute he talks about recruiting Jesse Bronwich at 33 on a two year contract. He only has to do two 20 minute stints, he is there for leadership. Sounds like what we wanted from Sharon but promised the world and gave us an atlas. What a difference.

I have heard the same story. I think it was the photo for the team of the century. They left the captains seat empty for Changa.

Leather balls. No bunker. Criminal behaviour tolerated, even encouraged. No women. No pride. Only black boots. Ball fed into the tunnel. No shit music over the PA. BYO grog. Biffo and coat hangers. All game changers!
Those large leather balls were as heavy as hell when wet and if one hit you with some force behind it , then you certainly knew it . 🤕

So you are telling me that coaching in the 60's is like coaching in the modern era, I'm sure even you can figure out the differences there, lets just start off by saying now they are full time professionals and go from there shall we.
By all means go from there you’ve told me they are full time professionals.

Now tell me all the things that the modern day coach does that old time coaches didn’t?

I can tell you something they delegate to lots of minions which old coaches never had as they did almost all of it themselves.

They stated on the paddock and copped our slaps on the back and signed our autograph books despite being battered and bruised.

They inspired men to stay on the paddock with broken jaws and limbs.
