Physically I look at him, and he should be a weapon.. which is why I dunno maybe its the way he's being used or the structure around him.. I mean he's been a letdown (as every player has).. and he should never have been picked all through 2022 over Sullivan.. but.. I havent written him off either, I just need hook out the door and some time to look at how our puzzle pieces should fit together.
I've written him off. Way too slow.
There: now that I've said that he'll turn out to be a superstar with an amazing turn of speed.

I'm with ya.. I try to keep an open mind that we havent coached/used/structured Sloan or Amone well.. and there is something that maybe Ryles (or whoever) can get out of them.. but I havent seen it in NSW Cup or 1st Grade with either of them.. but physically Amone looks the right shape.. he should at least be better than what he is.. maybe hes not getting 1on1 opportunities? If hes running into multiple tacklers because of a lack of other decoys.. then are we judging him unfairly? But you'd think he would atleast break the line occasionally with that footwork.... though it feels like its been a year or so since hes done 'something'..

Amone's biggest issue attack wise is the halfback.

Hunt flattens the attack, slows the attack, confuses the attack, doesn't know how to run the attack but demands almost all the ball and then spoons the ball off to others when there is f**k all on for him.

So if your biggest asset is attack and its not working for you then your vulnerability in defence is more evident and your value downgraded.

That is also the issue for Sloan in that his attack hides his deficiencies and when his attack falters then he looks ordinary. The difference being Sloan can be the master of his involvement in attack and does far too little of it but Amone's is totally governed and stifled by Hunt.

Nail on the head. This is how I see it. We saw the best of Amone from about mid last year when with added confidence he started taking on the defense at every given opportunity, created some tries and scored vital ones himself. Then this season for an obvious but mind numbing reason his coach put a stop to his running game in preference to him working on his ball skills. The reason, I said was obvious is that he knew his skipper, half and supposed prime play maker could not organise a pi** up in a brewery.
So our worst ever coach tried to kill off one players major asset to protect another players weakest asset, to the detriment of both Amone and the club. That is the mind numbing bit.

I have, got lucky and saw a full Ressie match and extended mins of another. I saw Amone split the defense, belt off down field then link with his outside backs for the winger to go over. Created another with a deft short grubber into the in goal. In the full match Sloan had a blinder, creating no fewer than four tries, scored two , showcasing all his skills, some of which we saw against the Roosters.

Yep. I've also watched Amone and Sullivan combine together. They're mates and work well. FFS give them a chance to work together in the top grade. Even if we lost, I'd be OK with that because they need game time to reconnect and for the team to learn to play with them.

Just want to mention, after watching KO cup Sunday, I was very impressed with the tackling technique of Tuitavake which was much in line with Jake Trbojevic style, ie. hitting with his shoulder first around hip area, which can cut players in half. Thinking he will be a big plus teaming up with JDB.

None better than this bloke. Most props hit above the waist but our best go low, two of the greatest ever Kangaroo props, Glenn Lazarus, and Paul Harrigan tackled low, hard and hurtful. I have to say it is pleasing to see young Dragon prop, Tuitavake doing the same. He sure has a top mentor in JDB who we must chase for our defense coach when he retires.

I would go after Naufahu Whyte from the rooster. Big lad, dominating nsw cup. He can play middle and edge.

I would also go after Daniel Saifiti if he's available. Experienced big prop who can play long minutes.

Both would be good options for us imo.
News today that Knights need to offload players due to Ponga deal, D Safiti is one on the list and so is Best to go.

Agreed - D Saifiti and C Tracey would be very handy pick ups for us.

P.S. and slightly O.T. - interesting how Tyson Frizell has suddenly found Origin selection worthy form in a contract renewal year. Been missing for the last two seasons.
Re TF
Only dumb arse Fittler could find his form good enough for SOO and to top that he even considered JDB
Billy the kid to belt our arse yet again
