I assume you mean it was a bad business decision because it was. Galvin was costing us minimal dollars and he is a decent squad member.

I think it was probably the only decision we could make but it wasn't about the dollars or contract spot. It was just about getting the drama out of the club. No one wants to deal with the problem. Punting him to reserve grade even if he deserves it on form would be more drama.

This kid leaves me with a bad taste. He was decent last season. He has been ordinary this season. We bent over backwards for him and he screws us over for less money to go to a top 4 team. Stef did the same thing last season and he was shit for us as well.
Disagree, I think in the end it was the best decision we could make and I do think roster spots was a very important part of it all.
I'd be pretty sure, if we didn't have Latu as our plan B, he wouldn't have ket him go, unless he has something happening.
It also means we should have that $6m (that he missed) to play with, for some new blood to put into our squad.
But he's gone and it is what it is. I don't think we will lose much, if any with Latu.

Richo should’ve played hardball with Galvin & Moses. He was costing us fk all.Shouldve put him on bench in nswcup for rest of his contract duration. It was a rare opportunity to get one over the grub Moses.Im quite pissed off we relinquished so easily to the cant
I cannot believe we went to water so easily over this shit AGAIN! No wonder it keeps happening we are such a spineless organisation, we deserve every bit of it

But that takes a spot away from someone who wants to play for us, whether it's a development player or someone like KPP or May, or all of them.
Why not get some cash, as little as it is, and invest in someone else.
I used to say go and mow lawns LG but we can't give up on this season.
Let's cut the cancer out if this club.
I can see your point though Simmo but I don't think our CEO is spineless. He is just trying to help Benji get the best team possible imo.

Agree. I think Latu Fainu has as much upside to that of Galvin. He's better in some areas, like defense and can pass left or right beautifully.
He also plays more direct, doesn't always run sideways like LG does.

Atm Sexton is playing great footy and if Galvin dislodges him then that could derail their season......wow LG, you could have a new reputation as a club killer.
I think Gus is a very smart operator, but this is a strange decision, based on (as you point out) they are leading the comp, why would he do this now?

It's beyond me.
I'm thinking that Ciraldo, who has history of guiding young talent and getting the best out of them, sees something in Galvin and he thinks he can mold him into a great player.
For those who have followed Galvin thru pathways, they will say that he hasn't displayed what he's capable of in the NRL. He's done some freakish things but that's against kids.
I don't believe these under 21 players should be paid marquee money because they haven't got the experience at the highest level.
I put that down to 3 things,
1. LG is not adjusting to the reshuffle and playing styles around him. Fix is to adjust like all good players do.
2. Our coach doesn't know how to fix his involvement in the backline, or
3. He's a self centred, egotistical spoilt brat and doesn't care about the fans, the club, and his team-mates.

Need to make a huge play for Payne Hass a leader of the pack he can negotiate from November 1. We have a few forwards off contract in 2026
Imagine Haas and May as our starting props, wow!

I heard 1 mth ago from a good source at Balmain that we will be doing our utmost to lure him to concord. The elite Samoan duo LG & TM could be influential in luring Haas

I do think roster spots was a very important part of it all.

I just checked and my understanding is we have 2 spots available prior to Galvin leaving. So that leaves us with 3 spots. Surely we aren't signing 3 gun players this season.

I'd love this post to be wrong and we announce 3 gun signings next week but I think there is basically no chance.

This is poor business by the Tigers.

I think the club needs a massive review of it's retention policies. We've gone hard now for Stef and Galvin. These are two guys who are highly rated developing players that are looking to become top tier players. They are choosing to go elsewhere and it doesn't appear to be for money.

I think in both situations we've ended up ahead though because both of these guys are not worth the money we were offering. I think this needs to be looked at as well.
