It has always been curious to me how much emotional energy Queensland fans devote to Gallen. For some reason that escapes me, they desperately need to convince themselves that he really is quite shit, and need to remind themselves with great regularity.

You misread me, but that is not new. What is your opinion of gal? Inspirational leader of men? Does he speak also for fans like you when he goes on and on about being duded by the refs? Can qld not possibly just have been the better coached, better captained, more talented, and played smarter for most of the last decade?

I think like commentators described the Sharks towards the end of the season, nsw needs to bring the qlders back to their level to be able to compete. If it's a wide open attacking contest, the only real skilful player you had is in San Fran.

He's a very good back rower/front rower, and no player has busted their arse more over the last decade for NSW. No player more thoroughly deserved last year's victory.

As for whinging about refs, take the f**king forest out of the eyes of your entire state before criticising someone else.

I think Gal has been a tremendous player and captain over the years. When you look at the teams Qld have trotted out v NSW on paper every series should be 3-0 Qld. It's an absolute miracle Qld have only had 1 clean sweep all that time and the majority of games have been extremely close.

NSW 2016 will wind up like NSW 2015 whilst Bob Fulton is involved. The guy may be a legend of the game, but in my opinion we need some fresh blood in the selection room and his head would be amongst the first on the chopping block. Qld did it some years back when they dropped Arthur Beetson, so NSW it is time to chop Bozo he offers nothing new, and many of the "theories" Daley has run with (e.g. the Pearce/Hodkinson halves combo) are attributed to have come from Bozo.

Seems Gallen is the apple of your eye though mate. You cant seem to stop talking about him or Pearce

Pearce simply fluffs at Origin level. Other than that he is passable at First Grade level and probably a decent human being. Gallen is as unprincipled a player as I have ever witnessed. He is tough. He is a hard worker. That is the only good thing about him. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

 Classic stuff Hutty.

The selectors have to treat 2016 with an open mind. After Game 3 last year, whatever incumbency existed was thrown right out the window and they've got to select the team on merit.

I don't have a concrete 17, but here's a list of players who didn't take part in 2015, that I'd be keeping a close eye on.

Blake Austin
Greg Bird
Jack Bird
Luke Brooks
Bryce Cartwright
Jack de Belin
Blake Ferguson
Dale Finucane
Tyson Frizel
Wade Graham
Ryan James
Luke Keary
James Maloney
Josh Mansour
Sione Mata'utia
Brett Morris
Matt Moylan
David Nofoaluma
Nathan Peats
Adam Reynolds
James Roberts
Aidan Sezer
Tariq Sims
James Tedesco
Joel Thompson
Tom Trbojevic
Paul Vaughan
Dylan Walker
Jack Wighton

That's a long list, and it could be even longer but it gives you an idea of the type of players NSW should be looking to bring in.

I agree Pete, after the capitulation in game 3 it's time for a fresh start for the poor old Blues. We need young blood like Frizzell/Vaughan/Wighton/Moylan. Blokes not scarred from the worst decade in NSW history and guys who are there to be ruthless and win (unlike the various games/series NSW has thrown away over the past 10 years).

NSW owes it to their long-suffering fans to actually show a bit of ticker for once.

Tedesco would be even better than Wighton.
