I'm more than OK with electric cars, when they come in and are affordable when technology and mass production is able to do this.
Of course electric cars are inevitable as was a Shark's win in 2016.I predicted the result after full time.
But saying by 2050. X% of cars must be electric is still stipulating regardless cost ATT, that is the objective, not what a Govt would aim for .
If I'm still around in 2030 (and good luck with that),and I am left with restricted choices ,knowing we still need large amounts of electric power fuelled by coal ,we are back to square one?
My point is, you need power to provide all the equipment(stations and car rechargers) whether on the highways or backroads of this country which is far 20 times larger than Norway(which has abundant hydro electric power via their fjords and lakes) and other smaller European countries, which people use as a comparison now.
If any Govt can provide these cars, that are not going to cost an arm and a leg, do not required coal fire power to support the recharging stations(meaning no reduction in emissions) or the batteries that need replacement don't cost a fortune, and
recharging them with power doesn't create traffic chaos,,then they've won me.
But for people who live in flats and park outside their homes, good luck with home recharging, if their battery is flat .
I also want to know Bill Shorten's position on Adani,as do union members in Nth Qld .Is he against it in Vic and won't commit either way in Qld.
I just want figures and firm decisions from politicians.I've been a union member in the Finance sector and the shipping Officers Association in the past, thus want the future to have jobs available for kids and grandkids.
I've also worked in private enterprise(export) where no unions were ,and got looked after.
Suppose middle of the road politically is where I sit. Both parties TBH are not that far apart compared to decades ago.
When it all boils down, it comes to one's hip pocket to provide adequately for your family,
Unemployment whoever gets in doesn't do it for me.Just my perspective, and concern for my family, not bagging any politician BTW.Though there's a few I could let loose on ,on both sides and independents.
Another thing that bugs me 10 days ago the Bureau of Meteorology ,stated we' ll have rain from Thursday 12th-Tuesday 16th April. Not a flipping sign of rain in Sydney during that period. With all the technology and up to date satellite images they got it wrong.
How the hell people say ,we(institution) have done computer modelling for such and such, therefore this, leaves me stone cold Steve Austin.
