Great stuffI didn't even realise this but the Warriors round 1 clash is at Sky stadium Wellington!
Average crowd for an NRL game is like 15k..With tickets as cheap as $10.... if they don't get close to a sellout... well...

But if they don't get 34k ... well ?
You're a moron.
Why would I be worried? A crowd of 17k would be good- that would be a sell out at shark Park- a current NRL team...anyway It's Newcastle v Warriors,2 teams who finished close to last last season at a less than optimal stadium. Newcastle's following or interest outside of Newcastle is 0 when they're playing good and I tip them for the spoon this year. You mean for the first game there in years, with tickets starting at $10... and you are already worried...

I wonder if the NRL headquarters are aware of all that...
I think you're worried it might be a decent crowd despite all those factors and make a strong case ! An outcry even! for NZ 2
I'd be worried if I was you!
Neither team represents Wellington, so over 20k seems stunning to me.It should be a crowd of at least 28K. Thats is the usual for the first time in years before trailing off... But you don't actually know anything about the NZ sporting landscape so you wouldn't know that.
And if they don't get 15K they will be losing money.
But thinking a first game in years in a location only getting "17K" after so long without a game, and then assuming there is enough support for a new team. Especially when there isn't a sufficient junior base to call on.

You know, a trial in Christchurch then round 1 in Wellington...
It's almost like there's a case for a second NZ team being put forward like a team based in Wellington playing a few games in Christchurch.. like Southern Orcas?
I'm sure it's pure coincidence

And that’s what it will mean to NRL headquarters which is all that matters.
Central Coast have been banging at the door of the NRL for decades and they only pull on average 15k, which isn't bad, especially when that area isn't truly represented in the contest.
I’m glad I left this discussion when I did. Loved your comment on the NASA thread last night. What a demolition hahahaIt's the Warriors trying to drum up support alter the last few years.
When the Bulldogs bought their Warriors games to wellington the first one got 28K, then the next significantly less and the third less again. But you didn't know that. If it doesn't get near 28K then interest in League is definitely waning.

I guess you don't watch much league because if you did then you'd soon realise that how good the team is playing is kinda a big deal, like massively. It's the Warriors trying to drum up support alter the last few years.

We should make a rule for himI guess you don't watch much league because if you did then you'd soon realise that how good the team is playing is kinda a big deal, like massively.
That's the entire spectacle, nobody wants to watch 2 shit teams
The trial is Christchurch, even though it's only a trial will do well because it's the storm and they're a good team.
When teams play well, they get a crowd. It's that simple.
Neither Newcastle or Warriors have played well in years.
But sure, you're right. There hasn't been a game there for a long time and that's why it won't be 12k like any other NRL team that's going rubbish.
What's funny is his argument is I don't know anything about NZ but apparently it doesn't matter that he knows nothing about the NRL, Australia or Rugby league...We should make a rule for him
for every one nrl game he watches he can make 50 posts on here
that should keep him away

Like all the things that actually pull the levers for a new team..
Those is glass houses buddyThe Trial game wont do "well" because the stadium size is tiny, if that doesn't sell out its a bigger disaster than getting less than 28K in Wellington.
It's the first NRL game in the city in years, the first game of the season, NOBODY knows how well the teams are going dumbarse. If it's 12k or there abouts it wont even make money.
That would require you being able to count. So that wont work.

Funny how Super Rugby gets crowds so poor that they don't want to keep a record is all roses but if a league game involving 2 wooden spoon contenders doesn't sell out a 35k stadium, it's a disaster...The Trial game wont do "well" because the stadium size is tiny, if that doesn't sell out its a bigger disaster than getting less than 28K in Wellington.
