New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Who knows? I doubt it though. The Japanese wouldn't want to.

Getting the Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs into the Japanese competition might be possible. They might have to rebrand as the Brisbane Reds and Sydney Waratahs. If it opens up pathways for Japanese companies to further their business interests in Australia and improve the standard of Japanese rugby then it's a win for them.

For the ARU it allows them to keep the best players in Australia. The way things stand they're going to lose players to Europe and Japan. Might as well field teams in the Japanese competition so the Australian public can see the country's best players.

The Japanese are more than happy with their comp. They wont take anybody from outside into it. More likely will be a type of "champions league" comp after SR and the Jap comp finishes. Of course there wouldn't be many Aussie teams in that.

Where are the mods ? This thread is a pain to read. Should be discussing a potential NZ team and how to best structure it.

Personally don't think NZ2 is feasible at present, more focus should be on improving pathways.

As far as mission "Turbo Charge" is concerned if we are going up to 20 teams a second NZ team is a given. Whether that is team 19 or 20 is what is up for debate IMO.
You're saying here what the few NZers on this thread have been saying and getting attacked for it, ironically I think some of those attackers have liked your post.

No there aren't you just blatantly lied. All are worried about what will happen to the game in the country if a second team centralised the rest of the players.
The game is hanging on by a thread in the provinces. Without the funding to get the game moving here it is on a downward spiral.
Just have a look at the "Waikato" thread in the Warriors forum to see how badly it is, with clubs folded.

I've said I'm happy for another team, but I've been vocal about how worried i am for the domestic game. Who are the Kiwis on this thread who support a NZ2 wholeheartedly and hasn't expressed some worries about the game over here?

AFL to put a team in Tassie and they will pump in $123mill into grass roots over 5 years plus $21mill a year grant. Thats exactly what needs to happen in NZ as part of a NZ2 club entering. Shame we neither have the revenue nor the will to do it.

That's because all of the Aussies in this thread who just want to dump another NRL team here, do not care one jot about League in NZ. All they care about is the NRL and how that is going. A second team now will centralise all of the remaining talent and kill off the regions once and for all.

Like we’ve said it’s not the domestic game that will provide the juniors

it will be the new clubs pathways

have a look at all the kiwis who post favourably about them bc it’s only you and you know who that are so against it

And there it is... Proof positive this moron cares nothing for League in NZ. All he cares about is "Juniors" funnelling into the NRL.

He doesn't care that the domestic game will die, that the provinces will die, that clubs out side of Auckland and where ever a new team is based will die. He just cares that a club will "provide the juniors"

That is so typical of the myopic Australians in this thread.

The NRL is doing the same thing with the Queensland Cup. The reserve grade they're trying to implement will really weaken the QRL's competitions.

The new club's pathways will need to rely on the domestic game to provide players to be the juniors.

Go on then, name the Kiwis in the thread posting favourably about it without concern for the domestic game.

Can’t be bothered

club can scout for union schoolboys plus existing league pathways

just like Aussie clubs do

Does RU have a future in Australia?

If it just gets on and does it's job. The targeting of League players may get them media coverage, but it wont win them anything. Didn't last time, wont again. RAs problem is their sheer arrogance, if they curb that, focus on their game, they have the Lions, Two World Cups and an Olympics they can use for media exposure. They will survive, at least until team sports run out of juniors.

Funny how all the talent in NZ going to one team in NZ will become more centralised when there's two...

Is comprehension still an issue with you?

When the Warriors came in, a hell of a lot of players moved from the provinces and moved to Auckland. Clubs in the provies folded due to lack of players, a lot of provinces are just holding on.
Without the investment in those areas well beforehand, any new second team will draw the rest of the provincial players there and decimate the remaining provincial areas. It happened before, it would no doubt happen again.

And the blows to Super Rugby are underway before League put another team there. Writings on the wall.

A 32 year old player getting a retirement payout? Really? That's the best you have got?

If anything, it shows you can stay and play in NZ until you are past it, then go for a payday overseas... and you think this is a bad thing?
