Didn’t the knights get bought for $2mill?
RoI is everything to these professional sports consortium investment groups and I’m sure they’d be looking at the risk of potential small fanbase and low corporate support in a city like Christchurch and be concerned about the profitability of an nrl club. They aren’t in it for the good of the game. Investing in anew venture is always more speculative than buying an established business with a track record of profit.
Poor sod thinks the NRL grant goes into the owners back pocket.

Unless you’re suggesting a second club in Auckland not sure where the relevance is? We’ve always known a well run warriors could be a massive club being based in rl heartland in Auckland. One of great frustrations for so many years that they’ve been a basket case.

Newcastle knights?

arlc waived a fee for selling it bc Newcastle west promised to spend 20 million building a coe

last time south’s sold a share to cannon brooks the valuation was at 80 million and that was before funding went up

a second nrl lincense would easily be worth 50 million. They would have a list of suitors a mile long

And somehow you think that equates to being able to support another team... despite there being no TV money, no Junior nfrastructure, no stadiums, no corporate support and apparently nobody watching on TV.

The Warriors are the flavour of the month, they have been before and there is still a massive decline in Junior playing numbers.

IIRC they've had periods when they've let it be a free for all and I don't think it worked out that well. Obviously having less penalties around the ruck would make a better product, but diluting rucks wouldn't make it a better sport. I'm lucky being both a league and rugby fan that I get to enjoy a sport both with and without rucks.

TBH, more penalties in rugby v league doesn't worry me as the nature of the sport means that there's more opportunities to give them away, it is what it is. Some are annoying, but then the whole hip drop tackle business in the NRL this season has confused the fudge out of me.
So are the rules around the ruck designed to make it easier to maintain possession ? and therefore a team can build momentum with and play a bit of running rugby?

I'm guessing having a free for all in the rucks causes more turnovers ? And more scrums due to the ball not coming out?

Nah, they're designed to be a contest, but with some sort of structure, so you can't just enter the ruck from anywhere or play the ball off your feet. The big change was allowing hands in the ruck, up until about the mid 90s (I think don't quote me though) you could only play the ball with your feet in a ruck.

I didn’t say every club was worth 100 million you moron

and yes the nrl gives away licenses for free the owners keep the profits themselves

nz2 will have many suitors probably more than Perth

Is that the best you can come up with? Really?

It was an opinion piece by someone who knows more about the business of Rugby League than you ever will.
It was an opinion piece by someone who knows more about NZ than you ever will.
It was an opinion piece by someone who knows more about Rugby League full stop than you ever will.

You are so myopic about your imaginary code war you can't even see the truth.

Probably the same as your average Japanese.

people from the far east are on average of smaller stature compared to Europeans, Polynesians, North Americans and Africans.
The Japanese have become notably bigger in the last 70 years due to changes in diet though. A similar thing could potentially happen with Papuans.

Really petty from the Auckland blues and the nzru
“But his manager has made it known that Auckland won't be letting him go because he will be playing in the National Provincial Championship for Auckland and that doesn't end until October.”

wgats petty about that? He’s under contract until October.
