I’d be surprised if nrl open bids in nz without any indication that there is at least one or two they had confidence in. In fact given the silence from any interested parties if nrl was really looking at nz2 I’d have thought they’d be pushing ns bears there given they look like the only financially sound possible bidder for nz.

just can’t see it for club 18. Maybe 19 or 20 but who knows if and when that will ever happen
That's because you're 8000km away

That's exactly it. There hasn't been a single peep out of anybody saying there is a bid being put together. And most telling is that neither the NZRL, WRL or CRL have not said anything. And I know for a fact that the WRL hasn't heard anything. They flat out asked Chalmers and got nothing.

Lets face it, Eric Watson bought the Warriors to get exposure for his companies in Australia, and what did that get him? Bankrupt and facing insider trading charges. The Warriors are owned by an angel investor who is a diehard League fan, There aren't many of those with the millions to through around in NZ.

You think that this is bound by the borders of NZ? How cute.
The irony in this is You're aware of the international consortium that now owns part of the All blacks.

Nobody will want to be part of the biggest and fastest growing Rugby comp in the world and be given upwards of 15 million pa that guarantees financial success and access to purchase some of the greatest sporting talent in the world.
Cool story bro lol

Yeah, nobody will be interested in 15 million dollars pa to play in best Rugby comp in the world lol

No, nobody is interested in spending millions of dollars a year to not make a profit owning a club who relatively few people will watch on TV.

Except that isn't even remotely true. The fact you don't know this speaks to your continued ignorance about sporting matters in nz.
And as for outside of NZ, why would any business outside NZ "invest" in a NZ club when there are plenty in Aus to "invest" in? and if any actually did want to, why haven't they? See.. you don't actually know what you are talking about.

Again you use hyperbole about a subject you don't know a thing about.
Why would any business want to own a club that wont ever make a profit, gets relatively few TV viewers and has no international exposure outside of Australia? Remember only recently a prime time blockbuster between the Warriors and Broncos only got 108K viewers here.

And as for "biggest and fastest growing Rugby comp in the world " that isn't even remotely true. The Rugby world cup is so very much bigger than the NRL, and there are a few minor Rugby and League comps around the world who are growing faster.

I could address many of these nonsense claims that don't make any sense but I get a sense that you don't have much to do and this is it for you, it's all you have.
And I'll simply take the one thing you have by not responding.
Bye 👋

And there you have it.

When you can't argue a debate because you know you are wrong.

But then you have been looking for an out since it became clear NZ2 is a non starter.

Hey Te Kaha, genuine question for you ( and anyone else here who knows Union )
I was watching the Super Rugby final, the breakdown is heavily penalised ( players coming from the side, players not staying on thier feet...etc ) what would happen if the ref's let it go ? Rather than blowing penalties, if they let it be a free for all would that keep the ball in play longer ? Would having less penalties around the rucks make a better product ?
I'm assuming they brought these rules in for a reason ?

You would be unable to maintain possession enough to do anything with it.

IIRC they've had periods when they've let it be a free for all and I don't think it worked out that well. Obviously having less penalties around the ruck would make a better product, but diluting rucks wouldn't make it a better sport. I'm lucky being both a league and rugby fan that I get to enjoy a sport both with and without rucks.

TBH, more penalties in rugby v league doesn't worry me as the nature of the sport means that there's more opportunities to give them away, it is what it is. Some are annoying, but then the whole hip drop tackle business in the NRL this season has confused the fudge out of me.

It’ll be 20 million pa by then

nrl clubs are a license to print money these days and they are worth up to 100 million
Didn’t the knights get bought for $2mill?
RoI is everything to these professional sports consortium investment groups and I’m sure they’d be looking at the risk of potential small fanbase and low corporate support in a city like Christchurch and be concerned about the profitability of an nrl club. They aren’t in it for the good of the game. Investing in anew venture is always more speculative than buying an established business with a track record of profit.
