And where does that game end?

Won't Union say they are bigger in the Southern Hemisphere and world wide.

Same for soccer?

Auckland fair enough, whole of NZ? lol
NZ is effectively a state. For argument's sake you could say two states, but that only drops about 1.2M off the total population if you exclude the south Island. Half of the entire population lives close enough to Auckland to drive up for an afternoon game.

not if you’re comparing competitions and their associated markets though because the NRL includes an NZ side, so a direct NRL vs AFL comparison needs to include NZ otherwise you’re underselling the NRL.
PNG/England I’ll grant are outside the current scope.
Sure, but Loz and Talis weren't arguing over each competition's associated markets, they were arguing about the popularity of both sports and competitions within Australia. In other words comparing each sport/comp's presence in international markets (or lack their of) is irrelevant to the question at hand, and trying to move the discussion towards that comparison is shifting the goalposts.

It's a completely separate debate, and it's only being brought up as it helps the "NRL/RL is more popular" side save face by dodging the actual question to address one that presents the NRL/RL in a better light.

You're again using a fake argument between loz and gordie to make some point about popularity, i told u before, it was made up to promote the great sports debate on channel 503

15 nrl teams (warriors ignored) generated 15 million more tv ratings than 18 afl teams
