With all the momentum of the game in nz now the next team in should be nz

has rugby league ever been in a better position in nz
when the kiwis won the world cup? When the warriors entered the NRl? When the Warriors made the GF?

I see they are finally setting up a stronger NSW cup style comp in the future, another positive step forward over there. Not sure whose funding it? Thats more important for the next ten years than another NRL club.

France vs nz on the same day as wahs vs panthers

warriors expected to outrate them on tv which is frankly outstanding as that’s one of the biggest wc matchups

looks like that nz tv deal could be worth a whole lot to sky nz

warriors game is also on fta in nz. Amazing stuff

All blacks are 7AM and Warriors 6PM

I would kind of expect a regular season warriors game to out-rate the union in such a scenario.

Great to see, we couldnt have hoped for a better home coming after all the covid time away. Hope Webster can keep them in the top 8 for next few years and get them their first title. Place will really go off then!

Have you got info or link on this? First I’ve heard of it.

I would expect the national sport in their World Cup to beat anything else

if England were playing in a soccer World Cup at 7 am and Leeds were playing London in a super league final at 6 pm I don’t think the league would match it

it’s the home nation and former wc holders v nz

heck even the soceroos were getting massive ratings for their early morning wc games and soccer is insignificant here

the union World Cup is apparently a massive event in nz or so we’ve been told

You don't think timing of the game matters here? You're seeing what you want to see.

The England example is not the same thing. A more apples for apples comparison would be Catalans in France playing in the GF in prime time whilst their Soccer team are playing over here 6AM local in a pool match. Even then it's not the greatest comparison because RL in France is not as popular as RL in NZ.

I would fully expect the less popular sports to surge above more popular ones under the right circumstances and this seems like a perfect example of that. The Matildas just produced the highest rated program in the history of Australian TV and in 2003 the RWC final was the highest rated program that year. Do you think either of those are indicative of those sports being more popular in Australia than RL, AFL or cricket?

Hey if kiwis don’t want to wake up an hour early on a non work day for most to watch the all blacks then that says they aren’t keen

ive stayed up to watch the soccer World Cup in the morning when I used to like soccer

and what do you mean rl
in France isn’t the same level as nz ?
That’s wrong

If RL doesn’t capitalize on all the momentum currently being generated in New Zealand by the warriors then it will be one of the biggest blunders of all time in the sport.
The fact that they went with a 4pm Sydney time KO to cater to nz is a big indication of what's going on....
The next team is going to be nz

It will deal a massive blow to RU in nz!

Not unless someone comes forward and actually wants to own a team it wont. You really think NRL will run a second NZ club itself?

Haha, when the Warriors bring in $200mill revenue like the all blacks do then we can talk about them being on par!

Doesn’t even have to be 18th team but a guaranteed entrance date for 19th or 20th team would be enough.
