There's only 1 team bid . 1 and that's Brisbane Easts.
There are none.
By your metric , we are staying at 17.
Unless they go to Brisbane again 🙄

End of 2024 - a year away.. they announce a location likely for 2027..
Why is there no bids ^^^
Ffs🤦‍♂️
except for the PNG and the WA (and the Bears Pacifika) interested bidders? Club 18 will come from PNG, Perth or Easts, you know the three options that actually have interested bidders now. In all likelihood it looks like PNG.

What there isnt at the moment is any NZ2 interested bid. Maybe that would change if the NRL started talking about NZ2 as a genuine option? or maybe they are waiting to see if a genuine bid opportunity turns up before they talk it up as an option? Either way there isnt a NZ2 interested bidding group at the moment other than the christchurch clubs one which has no backing.

sigh, of course they have and of course there isnt. Theres at least one credible bid team and a WA govt supporting it.

Christchurch at this point has a group of local amateur clubs with no money. Unless there is a serious bid option come forward NRL wont look at it, in all likelihood.
The arlc are talking to the govt about what they can offer not to any bidders

the wa govt is talking to be bidders

it will be the same in nz

this isn’t rocket science bro

Has the NZ govt shown any interest in supporting a second NRL club?

Maybe start read back a bit.
One last time because you're slow.
In business, all business.
First you put out a tender, then people bid on the tender..
There's actually no way to bid without a tender...
There is no bids as you can't bid on a position that doesn't yet exist.

You can make noise, great!

Talk to government, great! ( actually government involvement probably would hurt ANY bid as the best bids will be proved to hold up on their own!)
The NRL aren't yet taking bids.
Get it ?

Arlc will own it how’s that.
you think? You think the other clubs will be happy at NRL owning a club? Only scenario that happens is if SkyNZ offer so much money that it is a must have, and cant see that happening given recent SkyNZ deals.

I can tell you've never done franchising lol. First of all you decide where you think theres a viable business opportunity.
Then you look at likelihood of its success
then you either work with a selected party to develop it, start it up yourself or go to open tender.

There is such things as open tenders and closed tenders. Brisbane was an open tender as there was a number of viable bidders. Gold COast was a closed tender. PNG and Perth will likely be closed tenders.
NZ2, who knows but hard to see them just throwing out a fishing line with no idea of what interest there is.

You dont think NRL are currently talking with govts and interested parties about PNG and Perth? you're so funny.

I think it’s an option

like afl own gws and the suns

but I actually expect it to be heavily backed by the corporate sector

it will be a license to print money

the nrl should actually be charging for these licenses like a league do

the owners are getting significant assets for free

Still trying to figure put why anyone would pay for an Aleague license? Hardly making money or building any asset value. No to mention most of the aleague license fee was smoke and mirrors and clubs get it mostly back.

Reality is most NRL clubs make very little profit, relatively speaking, and much of the financial performance is still related to onfield performance, which is never guaranteed.
As a new start up theres a lot of risk and a fair bit of investment needed up front to get it going. Returns on that level of risk are pretty low, hence why we havent seen these big sports investment companies falling over themselves to take over NRL clubs, or start a new one up. None of them came forward to bid for the Brisbane license did they? In fact Jets were desperately trying to find investors and couldnt find one.

Can you now see why the NRL have avoided Perth since 1997?

Jets merged with the Bombers.

The leading contender remains the Brisbane Bombers, a bid headed by Craig Davison, former chairman of the Brisbane Broncos Thoroughbreds, a powerful group of local businessmen with rugby league interests.

Lmao average nrl clubs make 2 to 3 million profit excluding leagues clubs grant

nrl club values range from 20 million up to 100
Million Just for the license value alone

You have no evidence of point 1, annual reports are not out yet, and the few we can see are mostly LC annual reports and therefore impossible to know whats making the money.

the licenses for GC and Knights were sold for less than $2million.

There’s been loads of articles about it

they didn’t sell either club for 2 million you dope

they were owed ten million by the knights And waived it on the promise wests Newcastle would build a centre of excellence

Gold Coast was a similar deal

the last club to look at selling was manly and the last offer was 20 million which was rejected

mark cannon brooks bought a part shares of south’s valued at 80 million

broncs listed value is around 100 million

so yeh a license in Christchurch would be quite valuable

basically the NRL got virtually nothing for the licenses, all the money from the new owners was about investing it into the actual club. Yeh licenses are worth so much.
Let alone a start up risk in a new market area that has union as its main sport. Be worth a mint if NRL sold it for sure lol

Your a dope

I’ve provided two examples where people have bought or tried to buy shares for values between
20 to 80 million

mark cannon brooks is worth billions I think he knows a bit more about what an nrl club is worth than a random eshay from Perth

The price of his 25% was never declared, oonce again youre going off made up news stories
Not to mention Souths would have to be the second best investment in NRL after Broncos. Compared to a new start up in a small union city the two are incomparable from an investment opportunity point of view.
