Searle did a great job setting the club up

his failure has nothing to do with rugby league failures

titans had the best results and crowds under his tenure
I was living on the gc at that time. He got the Titans in over Central Coast and Wellington, he got games played on the gc and big crowds attended, the Bulliten got on board too. He let a big swell of support from fans, politicians and media to get them over the line, a new stadium is prime location. Then the first year they had probably the best roster they've ever had.
I got to meet him once halfway through the Titans first year at the Pink Elephant in Surfers ( the Titans unofficial club at the time)
Thanked him for all his work bringing a team to the Coast- absolute gentleman, all class.

Failed property development due to the gfc
Among a raft of entry conditions for franchisees, the NRL required a provision of a $15 million cash bond to ascertain and maintain a viability of the franchise. The bond, although assumed by the NRL to be in place, did not exist. It would appear that this deception by Michael Searle then extended to indicating falsely to the Commonwealth Bank that the NRL would contribute substantially—an amount of $4.6 million—to the construction of the centre of excellence. He also made other funding promises, such as a builders equity, which were not true.

Not sure you can blame his dodginess on the GFC!

Not sure his misleading, borderline fraudulent dealings, were common knowledge re the money aspects?
The smoke-and-mirrors stuff seems rather fitting for a Gold Coast bid, given the bumpy history of franchises across many leagues from that location.

Mate I lived on the Gold Coast when the GFC hit... the Gold Coast property market got obliterated virtually overnight. Carnage. The Gold coast wore the full brunt of the GFC in Australia.
The Gold Coast was in a massive boom and overnight funding was pulled left right and centre.
My girlfriends dad sold his apartment at a 35% loss over 6 months.
Ben Ikin actually explained this whole situation very when he was running nrl360.
Do some research on the GFC.

NZ Rugby must be pretty fragile if one extra NRL team would kill it off....

And Michael Searle, f**k me , there goes any tiny credibility that bid has
An NRL team on the south island will have more money to spend on players than the 2 Super Rugby franchisees combined...
And Michael Searle has already added 1 team to the NRL.. somehow falls well short credibility to you?

Read the label, some cleaning products state clearly that the room should be well ventilated...
Please crack a window ffs

Imagine I was arguing for pages about the massive blow a second team will deal to NZ rugby...
Just imagine there's people who think that's not a thing??
The closer we get to this reality more I think not only will it be a blow but more that it will be a death blow.
It won't be dead straight away but it will be very clearly and drastically in reverse the moment it's announced.
I think it`s going to take more than two teams though. There`s already talk of extra in-bound tours for the All-Blacks against big drawing heavyweight nations that will keep union in that country strong for a long while yet. Union still has a lot of guns to fire before it will be killed off by League in N.Z.

Honestly the All blacks will always be a thing.. if NZ makes the equestrian final in the Olympics... guess what, NZ becomes a fan of equestrians.. right?
The All blacks represents kiwis in a positive light as a nation . It's national pride.
Look at Unions numbers, there's internationals then a massive drop off for all countries actually.. massive. !why? Because of patriotism, the same as the Olympics.
But
Outside of an event which represents NZ as a nation and thier patriotism.. where will Union fall?
That's the measure of the sport.
And on that true measure, it will slip fast behind league in the near future.

Haha f**k me. Given your track record, how could believe this obvious lie.

Searle obtained an NRL license via deception. Then ran the club into near bankruptcy

This bullshit about any other property development is irrelevant deflection.

He will not be allowed to run another NRL team, and is most likely barred from being a company director in Australia.

Back on ignore for you mate.
You don't even bother to hide your trolling or even make it challenging.

I could come up with 10 more compelling counter arguments and that not even my position.

You're failures have led to trolling and now you're failing at that.. sad.

This bloke has a massive chip on his shoulders. It’s called Maximus. The negative energy they exude here is kind of cute in a pathetic sort of way :)

They're Union trolls. They hold a negative position on every topic, basically trying get pull the forum into bagging out our own sport. It works on Perth Red more than most because..well it's Perth red.. I mean where do you start lol

Imagine spending your days arguing with people you despise..about a game you dispise... and trying to win?
What a paradox.. understandably upsetting lol

Not as easy as it sounds due to the domestic leagues of these heavyweight nations which you would assume to be England, Ireland, France and South Africa unless these tours consist of national teams flying into NZ for a fortnight and playing 2 tests with the odd warmup game thrown in before flying out again.

maybe we’ll see the likes of Argentina and Japan touring NZ more regularly?

Until we see all blacks defecting to the NRL in numbers like they did during the 1990’s then the salary cap of a potential NZ2 NRL team or any other NRL Team for that matter will have little impact on NZRU and even if it did you’d imagine the NZRU would surely scrap its policy of not picking NZ based players for the all blacks.
