They can't accept all the bids..
the " rejected " aren’t necessarily inadequate, rather less favourable. Some have better infrastructure , organisation or funding ect.
I'm sure that it's the Searle bids that had very heavy financial backing.

Look, you don’t like Moffett and perhaps others don't also but I won't be believing that that is the sole reason for the bids rejection. There's many nuances to this multifaceted process of which we are privy to next to nothing...
We'll just have to see how it plays out..
Or jump to conclusions lol
NZ bids have strengths that other locations can’t compete with. I think that should be the main focus.

This whole we want to crush rugby stemming from there or AFL is taking over our neighbourhoods stemming from QLD is utter dribble.

Their bids imo should be built on promoting the fact they have amazing athletes built and conditioned for the sport that can be used to elevate the game even further both in NZ and Australia.

With a second team not only adding value from an increase to the overall player resource pool but adding rivalry to the growing Warriors franchise and adding a unique TV time slot of Saturday 1pm (AEST) or 3pm (local NZ time) that can increase Super Saturday to 4 games and potentially grow the games viewerships.

Unique geographical locations with state of the art new stadia and facilities that would be utilised. I know some of those points have been glossed over already but geez, missing a beat by not going hard with them. It instantly sells it with TV value, player pool value and rivalry value.

Don't forget utilising the infamous 6pm Friday slot as the "NZ game" either Warriors or NZ2 holding that timeslot aswell as the other ones you've mentioned, if the schedulers were smart that timeslot would be ALWAYS in Nz, that will appease the other clubs who are stuck with that slot most weeks, where it's hard to get solid crowds, when people are stuck in traffic on the way home before that game, when in Nz it's prime time, as if they were the Broncos of Brisbane, getting the 8pm slot

So if it’s true the Kea offered a $20mil license fee … then what’s the problem ? I’m sure Moffett can be quietly jettisoned if this is the issue …I doubt a lot ( if any ) of the money is coming from him …

Yeah we've all covered these massive pros at length and I'm sure NRL hq are well aware. We have 3 likely well financed bids located in the most obviously beneficial place and yet the NRL are sitting on it..
They should have announced NZ2 weeks ago for 2026 but their dithering now puts it back a year... I had a lot of faith in them but honestly , this is now costing us fans.
They need to stop f**king about and get on with it, if it's WA that's fine but get on with it!

I’m starting to have some doubts the NRL really still wants to go to 20 teams anymore … they are certainly playing hard to get …

Maybe they will just be happy getting the Govt money for PNG, and the extra TV tights money for the additional game going to 18 teams will bring

I felt that way a few weeks ago. Abdo and V’Landys have sinced been quoted stating that 20 teams definitely still is the goal.

That's probably better for a sunny warm Canberra game during winter, NZ has no upside for 2pm start, we are talking for prime time TV, Friday 6pm our time is perfect for them at 8pm nz

Crowd wise that’s a push for Canberra

Hypothetically what’s a strong kiwis side worth to rugby league

And I mean all blacks kind of strong

Bledsoe would be worth 100 million pa between crowds and tv ratings

And that’s just Australia / nz let alone value for a World Cup

Been to Canberra for a 3 pm Sunday game in winter at it was 10 deg

They are used to it
Not the point, it's probably the best time to get the better/more crowds, anywhere else don't matter as much, but Canberra in winter sux balls,
I mean the other is cowboys should be getting the late Saturday night games due to the heat, and Canberra the early sun/sat games
It's about growing the crowds, and a packed stadium is better for TV, and all round for RL

Getting people to go watch nrl at 12 is a punish itself

Pretty sure Moffatt bid is we the one with the good finances (some international player who invests in sports clubs) and endacott was members owned
This insignificant sporting body called the English fa wanted him as chief executive but he said no

But sure pappas who can’t run his own club is a better judge of acumen in a ceo / owner
Nah, I think the Kea’s were the ones the wanted crowd funding for their bid. Go Fund Me and the like.

The Orca’s, and to a lesser extent the Endacott Sth Island bid, had the financial backing.

That’s the bid that pvl has a meeting with last week and loads of people had a meltdown about it

Graham Lowe adds a lot of credibility to the bid

Wonder whose funding the coe is it govt or private

Only concern is it plans to play games all over including Wellington when it should be South Island only

It does appear to be focused on the South Island so not too bad

“Ten regional satellite centres will operate pathways as a sports education model with an annual intake of 25 male and 25 female athletes at each centre, so that by year five, 2500 young athletes would be part of the programme.”

Pvl loves that kind of investment in juniors

“There are also advanced plans for a city-centre hotel and entertainment hub.”

Club to invest significantly in cbd property for the clubs fans and others

Game on..

WT actual F?!?

So is this Christchurch based bid just ripping-off the Orcas name from Wellington, or is there some kinda deal here to bring Wellington "into the tent" & use the name with goodwill from the WRL?

Dare I suggest It might include the promise of a game or two each year at Sky Stadium?!? The article did say "will also take matches to selected stadiums throughout New Zealand.".. so a game in Wellington & a game in Dunedin each season perhaps?

The other two Christchurch bids seem to be focused on the South Island, but could the Orcas be the "Rest of NZ, outside of Auckland" option?

Chalmers is the guy who proposed the original orcas nrl bid split between Wellington and chch (6 games each)

With his involvement here it’s guaranteed they are playing games in Wellington and probs more than one
