They can't accept all the bids..
the " rejected " aren’t necessarily inadequate, rather less favourable. Some have better infrastructure , organisation or funding ect.
I'm sure that it's the Searle bids that had very heavy financial backing.

Look, you don’t like Moffett and perhaps others don't also but I won't be believing that that is the sole reason for the bids rejection. There's many nuances to this multifaceted process of which we are privy to next to nothing...

This whole we want to crush rugby stemming from there or AFL is taking over our neighbourhoods stemming from QLD is utter dribble.

Their bids imo should be built on promoting the fact they have amazing athletes built and conditioned for the sport that can be used to elevate the game even further both in NZ and Australia.

With a second team not only adding value from an increase to the overall player resource pool but adding rivalry to the growing Warriors franchise and adding a unique TV time slot of Saturday 1pm (AEST) or 3pm (local NZ time) that can increase Super Saturday to 4 games and potentially grow the games viewerships.

Unique geographical locations with state of the art new stadia and facilities that would be utilised. I know some of those points have been glossed over already but geez, missing a beat by not going hard with them. It instantly sells it with TV value, player pool value and rivalry value.

Yeah we've all covered these massive pros at length and I'm sure NRL hq are well aware. We have 3 likely well financed bids located in the most obviously beneficial place and yet the NRL are sitting on it..
They should have announced NZ2 weeks ago for 2026 but their dithering now puts it back a year... I had a lot of faith in them but honestly , this is now costing us fans.
They need to stop f**king about and get on with it, if it's WA that's fine but get on with it!

Maybe they will just be happy getting the Govt money for PNG, and the extra TV tights money for the additional game going to 18 teams will bring

I felt that way a few weeks ago. Abdo and V’Landys have sinced been quoted stating that 20 teams definitely still is the goal.

So is this Christchurch based bid just ripping-off the Orcas name from Wellington, or is there some kinda deal here to bring Wellington "into the tent" & use the name with goodwill from the WRL?

Dare I suggest It might include the promise of a game or two each year at Sky Stadium?!? The article did say "will also take matches to selected stadiums throughout New Zealand.".. so a game in Wellington & a game in Dunedin each season perhaps?

The other two Christchurch bids seem to be focused on the South Island, but could the Orcas be the "Rest of NZ, outside of Auckland" option?

Chalmers is the guy who proposed the original orcas nrl bid split between Wellington and chch (6 games each)

With his involvement here it’s guaranteed they are playing games in Wellington and probs more than one
