Yes and no. Plenty of transferable skills and professional sports set up but you miss out on quite a few of the subtle fundamentals which has been the bane of many an NZ league player. Remember an interview with Daniel Anderson when he took over from the Warriors- he had to teach seasoned professionals basic fundamentals.
Someone playing the game from a younger age helps keep them in the game also
Spending millions to replicate a system that is declining for union is dumb

new club will need players from under 16 to first grade

having warriors pathways in Australia will mean the problems raised by Anderson don’t happen

Scratching around on twitter for investors isn't a good sign. I would have thought they'd need investors already lined up before they launch their bid.

The engagement on that South Island Bid twitter, Haha f**k me.

104 following.

That last post had 4 likes total, and 1 retweet.

It's a nothing burger.
Apple computers started in a garage..

Vegas is in 5 weeks.. and the announcement for the location is 10 months.., the bid itself won't be excepted for another maybe 2 years!..
This particular bit would likely be receiving a lot of small investments- meaning they won't need a big backer( maybe they don't want someone with that much control)
Once a location is announced, the big players will pop up and blow these guys out of the water anyway.

Anything could happen. Letterman might buy in lol

Problem is getting them to come back if they’re developed in Aus, hard enough to get even NZers to Auckland let alone Australians- amplify that struggle with NZ 2. History has shown Warriors tend to hang onto the players that never left then pay overs to get NZers to come back from Aus clubs

I’m in the South Island at the moment, yet to see an NRL jersey let alone a Warriors one, seen plenty of All Blacks, highlanders and even Southland NPC jerseys- but apparently league is booming in the South Island…

What a load of shit
What is? The false narrative you’re trying to paint? NSW and QLD often assume league is as popular elsewhere much like delusional AFL fans seem to think NZ expansion is viable as “everyone loves the sport”.
Want to see NZ2 (done properly) and it’d be good to strike when Warriors are riding a high but from what I’ve seen the last week media coverage, merch on sale, what general public are wearing Union still appears king in Otago/Southland. Granted the bid is based in CHCH but it seems only 1/2 the South Island appears on board at this stage.

I didn't see f**k all around Brisbane either, probably cause it hasn't been on for 3 months.. and doesn't start for another 5 weeks.

How do you explain the Rugby jerseys still being worn and available to purchase? Hoped to find some Warriors gear in Rebel or Stirling sports while I was here and with the new supplier and new designs on board this season was surprised to see no stock in any of the stores.

ABs finished a couple of months ago but still seen people wearing jerseys and stock in shops, Super rugby starts I think it’s a week or 2 earlier but they have their range in stores and have seen coverage of an upcoming Highlanders trial match and how the new coach will go this season for the highlanders.
I’ve seen Warriors jerseys both worn and for sale in Sydney in the last month- granted one was me but it’ll get a random “up the Wahs!”

Grew up in the north island and the Warriors have always been pretty popular even though I would get a bit of shit when they were loosing and there’d be a few bandwagoners when they were doing well (this season, 2011 and 2018 saw plenty of these) can usually gauge the barometer of how much hype the Warriors are getting by them getting a “so the Warriors are doing ok for a change?” Comment from my Dad who has zero interest in league , have only been to the South a handful of times so based on this thread thought they might be getting a bit of hype- have not witnessed it in the slightest
