And to the best of my knowledge nobody has stepped up to fund a standalone Perth/WA team.
There was Peter Cummins is wa based

But he was getting Sydney investors on board

The arl found him untrustworthy

Pvl has always had a hard on for the return of the bears

Balmain is different they never got booted they chose to merge

If the relationship does break down with wests then easts tigers are the better fit for them

didn’t red bears write a synopsis of why east tigers and Balmain wouldn’t work?

probably higher than the 8k average perth throws up, I read nz viewership increased 14% in smh early 2024 article.
Will be interesting to see if the viewership held later in the year when the Warriors returned to usual service. I have no idea either way, maybe the residual hype from 2023 carried them through this year even when they were poor?

Old history but the bears shouldn’t have been booted in the first place and the tigers should have been Brisbane2 after super league war ended.

Maybe missed it but he would know being qld based

Makes more sense than nz2 and Balmain and if the merger does fail where do Balmain go next ?

Talk about issues with Holman Barnes have been kicking on for a year

And I’m sure Balmain people seeing the bears return has piqued their interest

If magpies and tigers come back we get two foundation clubs and wests can focus on Campbelltown and play the other games at Homebush or Allianz

If and it’s a big if the magpies do comeback then sharing a brand new stadium with the bulldogs in Liverpool would be the ideal scenario.

After ten rounds league and union we’re basically tied for ratings

Obviously since the nrl season goes for longer it would’ve crushed the super rugby ratings

It’s why a second nz is important it will raise the tv deal in nz

Who is going to switch to supporting the new team in Auckland?

There's no point having a derby if there is no proper rivalry.
I realise it will have these issues and will start off with likely low support but in the long run over 20 years or so will be the best option for NZ.

The ideal area for the Tigers is South Australia ( team 21 ?)
The Kea are obviously completely dead if they are making this play.. making me think that there's some inside knowledge of the Orcas getting a wink.

they’re dead according to you boomer yet they are making grand finals in reserve grade, got multiple league clubs operating on big profits, has nrl wanting them back.
Where are the multiple Balmain Leagues Clubs operating on big profits? Who from the NRL wants them back?
