Christchurch is a decent sized city that’s growing every year and is a sports mad city with amazing new stadium to boot.

from what I’ve heard out of the 3 cities wellington is the less sporty city plus I hate the cake tin!!

ChCh and Wellington are pretty much neck and neck in terms of size/population.
Wellington does have more top level sports teams so perhaps the market is more saturated.
I’m assuming you’ve never actually been to Sky stadium? The people that tend to hate it are usually the ones that have never actually been there- great location in proximity to the downtown and public transport and it’s one of the easiest stadiums I’ve been to in terms of getting in/out to your seat before/after the game. Circle layout gets overplayed never had a bad view there

By the time NZ most likely gets a second NRL 35 years will have passed. Nz3 will never happen. Rivalry will be based on North & South Island dynamic.

The north vs south dynamic gets overplayed a bit and is a bit sided from the south side whereas majority of the north are unaware it exists.
I don’t particularly like Canterbury but have no issues with the rest of the South, if NZ 2 was “southern” I’d support them as a second team but if it’s ChCh centric i wouldn’t

he was a fat and lazy unmotivated player who’s found his level playing Japanese union.

Although Sky Stadium was built as multi-use & oval, the oval is relatively small so it's as close to rectangular as a true oval can be.

We're stuck with it for some time now (NZ's stadium turnover not being all that frequent unless earthquakes intervene), but one thing that CAN make a difference would be replacing those Godawful yellow seats with a pattern of colours that make empty seats far less conspicuous.

Agreed some hear ‘Oval’ and assume it’s MCG/SCG proportions whereas NZ cricket venues tend to be on the smaller pitch side and in Skys case the corners of the rectangle essentially just fit in.
Even ‘earthquake intervention’ won’t really expedite a new stadium as seen in ChCh with 15 years between Lancaster/Jade/AMI and Te Kaha post earthquake.
Agree best fit would be to maybe pop in some black seats to break up the yellow if they want to keep with the Welly colour scheme

Esp since n has so many good rectangular stadia in regional centres with no games

Second photo shows the view from the corners

Even the rectangular ones with one main stand and the rest grass look decent

If Wellington ever got a team maybe 6 to 8 games there the rest around the north island

The view from the corners at the Caketin are better than rectangular stadiums - in fact I'd say that's one of the better features of the ground. Photos can be distorting.

The people who generally complain about the Caketin have never been there regularly.

However, the place needs a roof because the weather is terrible.
