Stadiums are one of the most important bits esp re nz

If you are comparing Perth bears or nz2 nz2 wins on every criteria

Stadium
Juniors
Tv deal
International competition
Except the one Vlad cares about, $ investment.

Has NZ or Christchurch govt offered to:
Build the new club a CofE?
Fund jnr participation programs?
Provide a stadium rent free?

There's reasons NRL are hell bent trying to get a Perth team over the line, even turning down a $50mill investment offer to own it themselves, whilst they seem pretty luke warm about NZ2 at this point in time.

I hope both happen but clearly NZ and its bids havent floated Vlandys boat yet.

Because WA are willing to pay a lot to get team. Question should be about why WA needs NRL so much?!

Yeh like Pvl cares about a rent free stadium for a year

Even with 12 million pa in govt funding for juniors wa won’t have produced a single nrl player before Christchurch had produced 50

Te ka ha will be one of the best stadiums in the nrl and Forsyth Barr isn’t bad either

Coe is a load of bs anyway the warriors don’t seem to have a flashy one and they are fine

Wa is a place where league is a very marginal sport and needs all the help it can get

League is booming in nz they are crying out for more teams (plural)

Because WA are willing to pay a lot to get team. Question should be about why WA needs NRL so much?!
3 reasons.
1. sports tourism. In recent years the WA govt has gone all in on attracting events, concerts and sports events to encourage tourism to the state.
2. East coast migration. WA is still the land of milk and honey and needs more workers. Having the East coasts main sport played here is a little bit of home for migrants.
3. McGowan, and to a lessor degree Cook, are RL fans and want to see a Perth team. Its good promotion for the city and NRL is the only professional sport without a team in the state.

Why woudl NZ Govt care if there is a second NRL team? Woudl they care enough to chip in $100mill+?
Thats probably the big funding difference between the two potential locations.

But as others have said, each location has its pros and cons. Strategically for the game having a second NZ club should be a no brainer.

I'm not here to explain basic geometry and math mate.
I admit the AFL has bigger match day crowds, don't know why I need to admit it.. the numbers are there for everyone to see but the reason for that isn't because it's more popular or bigger than league..because we have the numbers for that, more people watch RL . So why the disparity between how fans choose to watch? :
Firstly: an AFL field is larger, meaning that the immediate access to a location to view said field is greater.. the first row ( premium seating) has literally more seats which continues.. to around 100,000 seats that can see without too much difficulty to at least the edge of where play takes place.
Secondly: those seats that can view said field can witness valuable meaning play that takes place throughout the entire circumference of the playing field , making literally the entire stadium a good viewing area.
Thirdly: there's additional play that takes place across the entire playing area that isn't even possible to capture watching on TV, broader play shapes unfolding, jostling for positions, niggling, lead runs.. in particular..none of this is viewed on TV- you have to be at the game to witness those things!
Fouth: Because all seating given the structure of the game is a good spot to view the game, it makes it affordable to have a good viewing experience.
Fith: the game goes for a good amount of time where fans can make more of a day of it for the family ect, again value for money.
Sixth: and what makes this point so special is, it's the cream on top of all the other points...which is, after all the other reasons to go, gets lots of people to go...creating a great atmosphere..which makes people go..!

And there you have it, the AFL is probably the best sport..possible that exists to watch live as opposed to TV. I literally can't think of another sport that is so heavily favourable to watch live than on TV.

I went around 3 games and loved it, had a great day and would go again. Watch it on TV ? pass.
I go to some league games but rarely because it's actually better on TV.
He’s upset you said afl only gets big crowds in one stadium

And afl needed big crowds to survive because clubs didn’t have rich leagues club to support them

And they have games at time to maximise crowds

If they had to stagger games like the nrl then their crowd average would plummet (Friday 6 pm Sunday 630

Nz has already spent 700 million on new stadiums

Taking our stadium funding wa is getting 170 million

And most of it will be wasted on kids who will never play nrl

yeh and thats a plus for their inclusion, but this is Vlandys, he doesn't care what you've spent, he cares what you will spend.

Again thanks for you insightful prediction Nostradamus!

Its not an Or, its an AND you gronk lol
And I dont have to, clearly the NRL has. Vlad could just ahve easily linked Nbears with christchurch and pushed them to the front of the que. But clearly Perth is offering more in the NRL's eyes or we wouldnt have had the last 7 months of action.

Kiwi governments have to want return on those stadiums. Wonder if they'll kick in for NRL team?!

Perth is tick a box expansion

You could make a very strong case for two more nz sides and one more from Brisbane before Perth should get a side

Rather than bagging bids which are inherently better than yours perhaps you should just focus on the Perth side

Funny you praising Pvl when it suits

And who is NRL championing as club 19?
There is only 1 person bagging a bid here and it aint me. I want to see Perth 18, PNG 19, and Christchurch 20.

You seem to be the afl fan hung up on Perth having NRl come to town lol

So bc you can’t think of any good reasons why Perth should come in now your default is Pvl knows best ?

The same pvl you have been bagging since he came to power

lol!

Nz2 is a slam dunk

They don’t need the stuff Perth is getting bc their market is way more receptive to league and juniors won’t be an issue and the stadiums are already sorted

Theres a load of good reason, but there is nothing so blind as a man who cannot see.

But yeh, regardless of what you or I think the NRl clearly think there is a lot of positives for a Perth club given the way the are pushing for our admission. NZ2. less so hot at the moment it seems. You'd need to ask the NRl why on both accounts.

Not at all, Ive got no doubt he's only on board because of NS and the WA Govt $'s.
He an opportunistic leader, not a strategic one. Probably why, bringing it back to the thread!, he seems less keen on NZ2 at moment, there isn't a lot of $'s in it for NRL.
