Marshall (Whakatane) got a high school scholarship as did Hughes(Wellington) - believe in Marshall’s case the whole family got a package deal but similar to what I said earlier that relocating to Queensland isn’t much more of a stretch than moving to Auckland- Particularly in Hughes case.
I would much rather these guys playing for the nz club, or NZ2/3 but when people say ‘Warriors missed them’ EVERY club has scouts and agents in NZ competing for the same talent, sadly other clubs offer more it seems.

That’s what nzrl and warriors need to address, a decent high school scholarship program. These kids are moving for schooling as much as nrl oppportunity.

Taine is a perfect 14, Walker is the starting 13, Kosi on the wing.
That's how I see it but I wouldn't be totally against your changes.

I don't really understand the game plan today either..
I had high hopes for them this year based on their roster, I think it's solid but if you're going to pick people out of position and do one out carries..
Is he trying to lose? I don't get it.

The few games Walker has started he doesn’t seem to have the same impact so think he’s better used strategically, Clark works as the solid no frills starter.
Kosi I just can’t trust eh, I’ve watched him in a few BSW cup games and he just makes the same dumb errors. Taine is a bit small for the wing but outside of Metcalf he’s about the only other player with any pace, have more faith in him than Kosi.

yeah game plan was a bit odd, our backline plays seem basically the same as 23 which clubs had worked out last year, forwards doing far too much 1 out running against a larger forward pack and not a lot else.
Completely grasping at straws but we started strong before players burnt out and fell off the pace last season- are we trying the opposite and building into the season? Probably not but it’s all I got

Been saying this for a long time, get League into more schools would be a massive win. I’ve lived in 4 provinces in NZ, none had league as a school option.
High school I was at at the same time had inter provincial school sports comps across the likes of union, soccer, hockey,basketball etc.

That’s the thing the warriors seem happy just sitting on their backside in south Auckland and letting players come to them

They should be paying development officers to be looking all over nz

They can’t offer what australia can offer regardless if they spot them. If Australian clubs are offering placement at top schools and financial support for families then they will choose australia ofpver nz in reality. RL needs to get in some top schools programs over there.

No they can’t if there are no nz schools set up for it. And let’s say the other 16 nrl clubs all offer 2 nz kids a year a scholarship to move do you expect the warriors to offer 32 to match it?

You miss the Point lol. australian kids can offer nz kids school scholarships. Warriors can’t as there arnt any schools in nz offering elite rl programs.

Thats where funding to NZRL should be going and let them set the SHS system up then the warriors can piggy back on that by offering the scholarships to the best kids they find. But it needs NZRL running a multiple site SHS elite program, and for that they need $$$'s.

sigh, how can you not understand the problem? There isn't the private schools in NZ with RL programs for Warriors to put kids into. Until NZRL gets the funding to set up a decent SHS program the Warriors cant compete with what the Australian clubs can offer.
