New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

I feel for you mate. I thought that NZ2 was the best option! Obviously! As I've been arguing their case for years because I truly think the NRL would have hit it out of the park with a team in Christchurch.

Perth was off the table only months ago if that's anything to go by, I think it's a negotiating tactic to bring the New Zealand bids together over the next few years and form what will be an even stronger bid and club !

Next year the Warriors will be playing at that new stadium in Christchurch and it will be sold out... that's when the drums really start beating!!!
Once they see how good the Christchurch stadium is, it'll spark a lot of comments saying "We need a team there" AND a lot of comments saying "We need one of those!"

What chance a rebuild/refurb of Accor and/or a new stadium at Liverpool gets built as a fully enclosed stadium?

one can only hope yes to both.

a new 25k stadium built at Liverpool built for both the dogs and tigers would be amazing.

Dogs are seeking govt approval for a mixed development including a 40k roofed stadium

Imagine 25k-30k, fully enclosed, Bulldogs & Tigers as tenants - with tons of scope for concerts etc over the off-season... hell, even the odd round-ball game.

That's the future you wanna see

“The precinct's design is set to revolutionise the way sporting facilities are constructed in Australia. The state-of-the-art stadium will have a seating capacity of 45,000, making it one of the largest stadiums in the country. The unique bowl design will ensure that every seat in the house provides an unobstructed view of the game.

The stadium will have a retractable roof, allowing games to be played in all weather conditions. The precinct will also have a community sports centre, featuring indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, available to the community for use.“

Also plan a new leagues club there too

The only bit missing was where the $800k-$1bill is coming from to build it?

Jv with a developer for the units. That’s probably close to a billion profit right there.

They could even do it on their own

Who knows maybe the arl would invest to cover part of it

But their leagues club couldn’t fund it on their own even with their pokie turnover

45k roofed stadium would be a game changer for the dogs and western Sydney and rugby league

That would be insanely good but a 22k-25k stadium would be sufficient with the prospect of marquee games to Accor.

Too small for dogs

Belmore can do close to that

And they are going with 45k

They could downsize it later if they can’t get funding but 45k is the right capacity for them for a stadium down the track

They could average 28k this year as it is

That'd require the sale of the units to turn a profit for the developer + an extra $1bill to build a stadium. How many units are in the plans??
That article was over 2 years ago, whats the news now on it?

30-35k would be more than adequate and not look half full for most games. design it so it can be increased in years to come. Dogs avg over last 15 years is around 17k.

1150 plus commercial plus a leagues club

No idea what’s happening with the planning proposal

The could be going for more units

The state govt wants more high density housing

Getting a 45k stadium would be unreal but funding for a 25k stadium is more realistic along with taking 2-3 “home” games to Accor.

Geez theyd need a better deal than Sharks. they only got $60mill for 500 units. Your suggesting this will return to Bulldogs $1billion for 1150?

Sharks were desperate and the developer took advantage of them

They were supposed to get a 60 million payment for the land and ended up with 10 million plus lc redevelopment and some commercial

If dogs did a jv they would share the profit

The developer who took sharks land made probably 500 million

The dogs might not want to take the risk of doing a property development involving borrowing hundreds of millions though but a jv with a big developer like Meriton takes the risk away

Anyway, bringing this back to topic - great to see the idea of covered rectangular stadiums taking root in Australia - even before Christchurch's one opens.. though I do think it'll accelerate that thinking.

Maybe that's also one benefit if Suncorp redevelopment is some time in the future - that by then a roof is standard for new builds/refurbs?

I know you're struggling to find purpose now Perth is getting a team.
Like trying on shoes .. finding the right thing to moan about.. so until then it's everything?
