“I don’t think they get the raps they deserve, that’s my opinion, and people will start really noticing how good they’re going when they’ve got a bit of support around them.

“I always rap Mitch Barnett. I think with support around him he can come of age.

“Fitzy has had a big year and has another few levels in him. I think Dan Saifiti is definitely a rep player.”

I rank us higher

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/0a8c284c75db3940da63ff7779733005

With most NRL squads being close to finalised for next season, Foxsports.com.au ranks every NRL pack from one to 16 to determine the best starting pack on paper ahead of season 2019.

Agreed there is no way the Titans and Warriors packs are ahead of ours. Hooker is the only position the Raiders have over us (Hodgson is waaaaayyyy better than Levi). Also they're not being fair with our likely starting pack lineup, Herman would surely get the nod over Barnett and even at a stretch Daifiti over Glasby (if Dan continues his 2018 form). Being picked for a weak Queensland team doesn't make Frisby a better forward.

Also, am I the only one that thinks that Riff pack is meh? Last year when we beat the Riff we shut down RCG with ease and frustrated the hell out of Kikau. But then again you can't discount the impact of the rugby league god Isaah Yeo (hallowed be thy name).

Also I'd rate the Dragons pack as much better than the Sharks and Donkeys packs. Tbh I like the look of Manly's pack, I think they'll do better under Hasler next year.

If I were to rank the packs this is what I would come up with:

1. Souffs
2. Storm
3. Cowboys
4. Dragons
5. Roosters
6. Sharks
7. Sea Eagles
8. Knights
9. Panthers
10. Broncos
11. Warriors
12. Titans
13. Raiders
14. Tigers
15. Bulldogs
16. Whino's Winning Culture at the Eels.

cant agree with this. Ponga had a arguably better first year than Mullo had in his entire career. I do have a massive man crush on Ponga though so maybe bias somewhat. Ponga is a freak.

Agreed. Mullo had moments but often was not good enough to get the side home when needed. I found it frustrating reading and hearing about his dynamic running game which became non existant or just plain ordinary for the yrs leading to the end.

I just can't rate Snowden much. Again, had some good games but a lot of ordinary stuff the yrs after he was at Cronulla.

Aku was great finding the the line. No argument there, although he could bomb a few certainties as well. But the rest of his game never improved. It got worse and worse.

Snowden Sharks Edition was the equal of any prop. 200m+ games were like shelling peas to him. He was a monster.

All went downhill the second he pulled on the red and blue. He was good for us, but a shadow of his Sharks form. Wonder why that is...

Probably because we told him to f**k off when he first played for us

Strongest pack has Klemmer, DanS and Esee starting and playing 50-60 min each with 2 bench, props, playing about 30-40,

Why is Glasby guaranteed a starting spot? Ese and Dan Saifiti are both better. I can see him struggling to even make the 17 by season's end. He's so very, very vanilla.
I'm guilty of not paying much attention to him, he's the invisible man. hopefully he turns out like Guerra and his input becomes very obvious once we start watching him closely.

Yeah, I dunno where Glasby fits long term either. He must be damn good off the ball, because if everyone kicks on like they should he could easily find himself in reserves to my mind.

Can't see Glasby as a starter but definitely in 17 which will have 5 middle forwards 3 starting, if that's Klemmer, DanS and Esee leaves two others between Glasby, Gavet and Jacob, leaving King in reserves with Saulo to develop. Can't see Gavet and Jacob keeping Glasby out, assuming all fit.

I think for team balance Glasby is better off starting, he's no world beater but he's definitely a first grader and does all the little things right. You know what you're going to get from him which is not something we can say about Dan Saifiti at this stage.
I like having Gavet and Saifiti coming off the bench ripping in after Klemmer has softened them up

Brown has, in the past, changed line ups to suit his game plan and opposition.

I see Glasby probably starting some weeks and on the bench others.

I can see your point. But I’d rather have Klemmer, Dan and Ese starting and playing good minutes and have a couple of impact players like Gavet and Jacob Saifiti spell them for 25-30 minutes.

Glasby is only effective playing big minutes and I think we have better options.

Personally I would keeping Ponga @ 1.

Lino @6

I also have time for the Saifiti boys, still very young for Props.

Klemmer will wear 8. Good buy your forward leader now.

Glasby isn't really a big minute guy, also Jacob has yet to prove to me he's actually a first grader compared to Glasby who's played origin and won grand finals.
What you'll get from Glasby is a guy who'll give you 10 hits a game, good tight defence around the ruck, not many missed tackles, errors, etc and who'll bring a winning mentality. If Jacob wants to get chosen ahead of a proven first grader who's played origin and won a grand final he'll want to improve a hell of a lot from this year where he didn't even look like he belonged in first grade

He played about half a dozen games. A couple of which were pretty decent. Injuries have cruelled his career so far but there’s been glimpses.

He's had a few moments but I think if you were an investor Glasby would be the much safer commodity. I understand the thought of having a big, strong local kid in the team is probably abit sexier than having an older journeyman like Glasby but Glasby is the bench mark that guys like Jacob Saifiti and Pasami Saulo need to surpass if they want to get in the team
