management and admin staff plus the football operations group are already at wests mayfield, wouldn't be too much hassle to have wests running the whole show

$14m profit last fin year would indicate a level of competency that had eluded the knights for some time
at least we wouldn't have to read about players not being paid

and who cares if bennett goes, really? he will be done after next year anyway and has been a huge disappointment.

I'd be happy enough with Stone @ the helm again provided he got given the coin and right support stuff.

Bennett bringing in Walters just reeks of him getting ready for a Brisbane move in 2015/16 IMO.

Relax, either way we are good and if Tinks falls over, Wests have already said they would step in. They have a stronger business than Tinks it would seem and I agree with Perverse, there would be a lot of sponsors who wouldn't deal with HSG but would with Wests.

Rio want to expand Warkworth, I'd hit them up straight away as a community goodwill gesture.

Part of me wants Tinks to fall over, for no other reason that in would shut down the circus once and for all.

Agree with that. It's the circus that disrupts the team every year. We certainly wont be an attractive proposition for players now after the crap thats been in the papers.

I honestly, at this point, couldn't care less what happens to Tinkler. So sick of seeing these issues, that for us fans aren't too concerning, being blown up and viewed as something that could be potential catastrophic for the club (At least, that's how I view the reports).

What's the worse that could happen? I'm sure the club will be ran well enough that we don't fall back into a shit hole of debt and can get a sponsor (NSW Mining perhaps?) that won't hang above our heads throughout the season because they're on their last legs. I can honestly see a brighter future for the club with HSG out of the picture than I could when Tinkler bought the club.

I don't know about Bennett. He's a bloke that I would expect to remain at the club, but I wouldn't blame him if he did leave at the end of the season regardless of the outcome. I would like to see him here next year, one more year working with some of our younger blokes and perhaps even bring a quality player to the club but again, given the circumstances...

Tinkler just needs to let go and hand the club back to us. Let Wests run the show. They are a brilliant business. We were warned and we bought into it. No getting around it. They forgot to add the bit about Tinkler being a high stakes investor who was too arrogant for his own good prior to the vote. That said he has made us debt free. We get a clean slate. We will survive.

True getting players like Boyd, Scott and gagai/smith (might or might not of come without Bennett) and 1 game from the grand final has been a huge disappointment.

1 game away from a Grand Final berth in his second year at the helm is a huge disappointment ?:sarcasm: I'll take that every year please....bring on some more disappointment I say

Nothing less than total comp domination and at least 1 premiership seems to be the expectation when Bennett is involved. Some fans really need to come back to reality

I can't understand why if Tinkler had a 10 year agreement to fund the club why we didn't insist on a Bank Guarantee for 10 years. It is incredibly odd that a contract performance guarantee expires before the contract does...

Let's hope we can just cash in the guarantee, buy the club back for a dollar and move beyond the Tinkler era. He has done some good for the club, however he does not appear to be able to do that now...

A winning percentage higher than 45% would be a start.
I didnt expect instant results and Wayne Bennett himself asked that we not expect instant results.

First year wasnt 100% his roster, plus getting rid of the deadwood he was charged with changing the clubs culture to a winning mentality. I wont judge the man until his time at the club is over. At present I'm more than happy with what he's done.

He's not the most respected man in the game for nothing.

Until Bennett leaves the club, I'm not even considering judging his winning percentage. Look where we got last year? Perhaps overused but it's still a damn good point what he's capable of doing. We can look at his success at Brisbane and the Dragons but the fact is he has had so much more work to do here at Newcastle.

I couldn't give a flying f*%k what his winning % is. To me it's all about how far you're capable of getting in the competition and under Bennett we've gone closer than we have in 12 years.

The worst thing to come out of this whole saga if Tinkler fails to meet his requirements will be the sense of self importance from particular journalists at the Newcastle Herald.

They would have had absolutely zero influence on whether Tinkler stays or goes. Nothing that they have written, or will write, will effect whether Tinkler finds the required funds in time. There will be no uprising of the fans because of rumours and heresay that they have disguised as facts in their articles.

Either Tinkler finds the money and he stays on as owner, or he doesn't and the Members Club buys back the Knights for $1.

Yet you can guarantee that in the Herald there will be numerous articles blowing their own trumpet about how they were the voice of reason during the past 2 years and they never wavered in their quest for the truth.

Bennett's calmness in spite of all the drama off field is exceptional. He is super impressive in the way he protects our club from the sycophantic Newcastle media. A bunch self important hacks who can't cut it in the big leagues. Their sense of entitlement is quite pathetic.

Agree Wayne has made us far more likely to be a premiership contender, but bashing the Herald and it's reporters appears a stretch. HSG and the Knights admin is an absolute dog and pony show; completely unprofessional. The Herald has championed the Knights for 20+ years, then Tinkler shows up promising a sense of community and the net effect has been to stonewall and make a poorly-regarded tabloid trash newspaper the 'official' paper. Where is the logic in that?

You could hardly make a case that under HSG and with Bennett at the helm the Hunter is more united and in touch with their team than ever. Hard to be proud about 'our town, our team' and the junior nursery when HSG does whatever it can to scupper it.

What exactly would Keeble and Dillon do in this town if they were anti -Knights I ask you? Write about our epic basketball and netball teams. Talk about small minded. The Herald have sold their papers on the back of the Knights. This idea that The Herald are responsible for the Knights being where they are is utter crap. They ran an agenda against Brian Smith when it suited because he dared show up how utterly crap our 2007 side was. They have been after Wayne from day one. Their impartiality is appalling. The Daily Telegraph is the biggest selling paper in this state and the most viewed online. What do you mean where is the logic?
I suggest you stick around in the mediocre no money years and the rest of us will be thankful we are debt free and came up one game shy of the SHOW last season.
