Wayne will have to get a release from his contract with HSG in order to continue at the Knights, won't he? Tinks might say you can leave but can't work in the NRL for another year (or however long his current deal is for).

I think Wayne wants to stay and see things get back on track. But since he doesn't actually work for the Knights, I guess it is up to Tinks to decide what happens. FFS.

The whole thing Bennett being signed to HSG thing is very confusing. I mean I'm sure he's under contract by them to coach the team so I don't see how they could stop him doing what they signed him to do.

I wonder whether this was always about confidentiality, I am sure that after the Souths criticism regarding chasing the dollars, by doing it via HSG, his salary would have been exposed to a much smaller group of people including the NRL not seeing it.

There was a buy back clause but it seems the NRL didn't want us to initiate it. I think it's pretty obvious they're over our constant management incompetence and wanted to run the club.

Also reading that I'm starting to get the impression Bennett will stay on. The only way I could see him leave was if the club told him to, but if the club sees keeping him on as a priority for our rebuild then I doubt he would just pick up and leave. He seems to be a man of his word, and like others have said I think his credibility and reputation in the game would take a huge hit if he just picked up and left the club in the current state. He wouldn't do that to his players.

According to Barry toohey on the radio this arvo, Bennett is actually contracted to the knights, not HSG. Apparently his contract is registered to Hunter Valley Rugby League, which is what the knights were registered as back in 1988.

Not believing the "Wayne back to Brisbane" garbage till it happens officially. The media up there seem to be incredibly butthurt he left in the first place and think any issue, no matter the size means he'll return. f**k, it's at a point where I feel sick even reading a headline that states so.

Yep. Bunniesman also heard it from bennetts brothers mouth that he was going to coach Souths.

If so then the last 2.5 seasons have been a total waste of time really. We essentially sack and demote Stone for Bennett and then give him the job back. That is so Newcastle. forever looking backwards for an answer. I don't think Stone will attract anyone to this club. This is the man who signed Kaufusi. it will also mean Gidley sticks around because that is just the way it is here. We learn nothing. Fillipo? FFS!

Nobody can know for sure either way because nothing is locked in either way. But it's definitely being spoken about and if the Broncos miss the top four it's a real possibility.
