@ouryears .. the players are on contracts.

Also, the Gordon deal, in either the private sense or the Win Corp manner, has been in the pipeline for nearly 2 years.

So whilst I agree 100% , they seem happy , I dont believe the ownership is a factor.

I find it interesting though at the timing of this announcement.. Wasn't that long ago, we where told Gordon had lost interest.. I would have thought that this deal was either dead or if not, being mentioned at years end.

Something has happened ... be it on the clubs side or Gordon's ..
Maybe it was to talk the price down that he said he lost intetest.....or maybe it was because he was going to initially use WIN money to do the deal, and maybe some key members of WIN didn't embrace the idea, influencing him to do it with his son and keep it apart from WIN. (?) Just some ideas, nothing I know of....

Until, the details of the deal ( if it does happen ) come out, we are all in the dark mate

Am I the only one who can't understand why the Dragons brand hasn't been tested for sale in the Chinese market? There are more Billionaires in China than anywhere else in the world and the word and emblem Dragon applies to countless Chinese restaurants - not to mention Dragon boat racing, poker machines and God knows what else. Rugby (admittedly not Rugby League) is played by the Chinese army but this is a market just crying out for expansion. Why aren't we thinking big and getting the sort of financial backing that normally goes to Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal etc in the EPL?

Simply because the average RL club is worth a few million. Not billions. The clubs u mention pay their players up to 300k per week, .. Yes I know that China is paying EPL players over the top, but that does not justify their investment in small league like us.

And even better hands if it was me. lol
I am all for this for the following reasons
1. Look at any sporting organisation around the world that is successful, a large percentage of them are privately owned. Whether you like it or not I just think it is the way of the future.

In saying that I would like to see just 2 conditions re the sale.

1. The first thing the club does is pay off there debt to the NRL so we are debt free.

2. Procedures are put in place so that some clown like Rayleen Castles can’t come along, sink the ship that is floating and we end up like the Bulldogs

The few million you talk about seems to be a huge issue for the prospective purchasers. This sale has been dragging on for years and it is embarrassing that we are constantly reminded that we are being propped up by the NRL and owe over $6million.THe company running A league club, Melbourne City, has a parent company which owns and runs Manchester City- the richest club in the EPL. You could hardly call our A league a world powerhouse and yet City were interested. As I understand it, SGI has the lowest number of 3rd party agreements so the lack of cash investment is pricing us out of the better players coming onto the market.

And Raylene Castle then goes onto become the CEO of Rugby Australia. lol What a joke. I wonder if her being a woman actually helped her get the job? lol

Something seems odd with Mr Gordons sudden recent reversal to buy into the dragons. Correct me if wrong?

1. Bruce Gordon once on Dragons board but left.
His son remained on board.
2 . Whilst the Entrepreneural Gordon's are on the board, the dragons tally up a huge debt of 6 million.
3. The Gordon's who own Win Corp pull out of buying 50% Illawarra share.
4. One month on, the Gordon's & not their company wincorp are about to by 50% Illawarra share.
WHAT THE ! I hope his passionate love for Steelers does not cause divisions.
Seems to me this 50% buyout is somewhat of a conflict of interest for the real benefit of the club. Time will tell.

As you say blaksafake as long as everything is open and no hidden agenda, it will be a great thing.
My main concern is that there still is a St George that is based in both kogarah and Wollongong and the jersey and traditions are never compromised.
I am not 100% sold just yet.
Are you for sale too?
