My only concern is that the pillars of the original JV venture agreement, re logo / colours / name / grounds etc reman in tact.

If we dont lose our identity as it has stood since end of 1998, then Im ok with privatisation.

As you say blaksafake as long as everything is open and no hidden agenda, it will be a great thing.
My main concern is that there still is a St George that is based in both kogarah and Wollongong and the jersey and traditions are never compromised.
I am not 100% sold just yet.

If those provisions / conditions are in jeopardy, then I would be gutted.

Have no inside knowledge of the matter, but commercially speaking, one would think that changing the core DNA of the club would back fire bit time. Just my opinion.

I think you are probablyy confusing the two issues but understand why you might think that way.
In the end ownership of the club will mean nothing to the players as long as it is not Tinkler or Palmer lol.
The roster is indeed happy but that is a consequence of winning, new players, self belief and knowing that a bigger pay day will be around the corner for many of them.
If they don't get upgraded to the correct pay rate here they will leave despite who owns the joint.

@ouryears .. the players are on contracts.

Also, the Gordon deal, in either the private sense or the Win Corp manner, has been in the pipeline for nearly 2 years.

So whilst I agree 100% , they seem happy , I dont believe the ownership is a factor.

I find it interesting though at the timing of this announcement.. Wasn't that long ago, we where told Gordon had lost interest.. I would have thought that this deal was either dead or if not, being mentioned at years end.

Something has happened ... be it on the clubs side or Gordon's ..

Doust said NO to the WIN's corporation original offer ( or actually what Bruce Gordon had instructed them ) . Of course we are all well aware that they then packed their bags and went on their merry way , leaving being some very frustrated Dragon board members and of cause quite a few disgruntled fans .

And what do you know , Bruce Gordon has now returned and shall invest his own money into the takeover. So the Big Red V must be a hell of a lot more appealing then first thought - why else would he use his own hard earn cash .

Doust gets my vote of thanks for not accepting a lesser amount than what he believed the Joint Venture was worth , the man stuck to his guns and brought B.G. back to the table . The man has made more then his share of mistakes over the years , but also some good decisions , this one may rank as one of his best and a good way of leaving the club in a far better place then it was a few years ago .

Jumping at shadows until all the details are outlined. But clearing debt, clean out of board and being master of our own destiny..and not being slave to NRL - ie voting on ‘party lines’ .. surely are all positives.
