March 6th, 2005.

PANTHERS player [furrycat] has confirmed that he may "jump ship" to join the Cronulla Sharks, in a bid to help the team with dwindling player numbers.
"I haven't made anything final, but I had a great first year with the Panthers and helped a few guys get into the side. I enjoyed helping the team get further and playing, but a friend in need is a friend in need. The sharks may need some support and players and I'd like to be someone to assist".
It has been confirmed that [furrycat] was not approached by the Sharks, and that the contemplation of this offer has not been forced.
"I'd like to stay at the Panthers, but I'd also like to try something new. Loyalty stands tall near me because the Panthers gave me a go and kept me on. But it may be time to move on"

Big Mick (Panthers Captain) has not yet commented on this situation, and neither has Sharks Captains' Salmon, Madunit or Sharkie, although aconfirmed report has shown that an un-named player from the sharks saying "hahahahaha
we would be honoured to have such a prestigous athlete among our ranks"

[furrycat] debuted for New Zealand, Country and Queensland in the 2004 Season, and also had an average of 8.8 for the season. An announcement is expected soon.

[furrycat] not lured by the hook

[furrycat] has willingly announced that he will not be joining the Sharks for Season 2005, and will remain a Panther after talks with both sides.
"The point was made that it was not the best choice to make at the time. The sharks are looking better for the future, and Big Mick has been good to me in my small time at this club, so I can't leave."
[furrycat]'s debut year (2004) was with the Penrith Panthers, whereas he played most games, and in many representative games.
"I'd still like to state that I was not approached, I was only looking to help out. But after talking with both captains it appears that this is not needed. I was never fully swayed to leave the Panthers and do not intend to do so in the future.
"The Panthers have been a great club to me, filled with a great bunch of guys, the only way I'll be leaving is if I do some bad stuff on our weekly Uni-ruckus run"

Panthers Captain Big Mick had this to say of the decision "thank god. Toilet hats and ducks were flying everywhere in the office and i didn't know what to do. Maddy rang me and said 'wassup brudda', and i said 'aight' and it was all good from then on in"
