Sunday 7th Feb.

A-League.
Sydney FC vs Perth Glory.

Kick-off - 5.00 pm.

I'm heading out to this. Should be a cracker. Anyone who wants to see a real atmosphere at a sporting event should head to this.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of crowd they get.
I think it's Sydney's first A-League game at the ground, although they have played one Asian Champions League match there.

Should be a cracking match.

Perth haggling for a finals position and Sydney shooting for top spot.

Should get upwards of 15k I reckon - if it is publicised enough in the region.

If "The Cove" can fill the northern Terrace, it should have a cracking atmosphere as well.

It's the quality of the game in Australia that puts me off.

Sometimes they can't string 2 passes together.

the quality isnt as bad as people make it.

It looks bad to the average viewer because we get the premier league, but the A-League is a decent standard. Yeah, there are some dire games, but Melbourne Victory and Gold Coast both play a very good, very entertaining style.

Will there be flares? It's not an aussie domestic soccer game without flares being let off in the crowd...

The old NSL was a better standard that the over rated drivel that gets served up in the A League.

On the very odd occasion I bother to watch I am amazed how it gets talked up, really it is ordinary

I went to nsl games on a regular basis and the quality of the A-League is much higher.

You'd probably have to go to a period in the late 80s/early 90s when the NSL had a golden period to see it close to what the A-League is.

Even then, the passing game of Melbourne Victory with people like Carlos Hernandez ( Costa Rican international) would probably rip apart strong NSL sides like Melbourne Knights, South Melbourne etc.

as much as i want football to thrive the a league is just the nsl with marquee players

sometimes its unbearable to watch so i switch it off and watch the blue square premier league for better quality

With all due respect Delboy, that comment is at the very least, uneducated.
I'm not going to stand here and defend the A-league like it's Serie A or the Premier League, but it's certainly not like you make out.

Fish, there are 1 or 2 quality players around, and that helps teams, but honestly the standard across the league is poor really, the NSL in the early 90s was much more competitive.

The A league is so non physical, it is hard to watch, any comparison with League 1 in the UK is laughable , and that is what they try to tell us.
