And yet Wookie has NRL`s FTA figure down as 62.786m and the fumblers at 62.50m. Am I missing something or is Nine BVOD making up the difference, and if that`s the case surely the deal values should still be roughly on par.
They get better covg by having different games on fta in Different states at same time. They also have a lot more advertising space in their games and 4 games week so I wouldn’t expect it to be like for like. But I also wouldn’t expect it to be over double.

The FTA games for the Storm, Lions, Swans, Suns and GWS are usually relegated to the secondary channels in their home markets. An advertisement during a game on 7Mate or 9Gem isn't going to be worth as much as one on Ch7 or Ch9.

I believe lack of national metro reach is a partof the reason, yes.90% of tv advertising is spent on the metro areas. Companies want national reach when they are advertising during a sport.

of course there are other factors: perception of RL as a working class game, less content, sht negotiation skills (and lack of balls) of our leaders, lack of competitive tension at sales time amongst some of them.

in our advantage is: bigger audience, Sydney reach, regional reach and NZ. If we can sort out our failings we should get better tv and sponsorship dels than afl. But given the history of the games administration it’s still a very big IF!
How much money will be generated by adding a team in Perth?

Stop making shit up. Alot of Broncos and Lions are good mates.

I know it's hard to get you head around but most people in the real-world don't act and think like some of you pathetic, obsessed code-war warriors on here.
Nice rant, are you ok? I was referring to the administrators at Lions HQ and you can be damn sure they wanted the Broncos to lose

Who can forget when the afl admin were cheering for Iraq (I think it was) during a World Cup qualifier. Gone down in the annals of history that one. As for our little friend. He’s about as naive as it gets.

Been posted on here ten times before

you even commented on it too

Can’t really see all the povos in Adelaide being worth much to advertise too
I'm all for a Perth team but the reality is that our game can do very well without the two wasteland AFL states that we dont currentlyhave teams in. For the AFL, NSW and QLD are essential and that tells you all you need to know.

Now we just need to leverage it properly with the broadcasters.

It can, but if it wants to do ore than ‘very well’ and be the biggest and best it can be then no it can’t.

yes it tells me they already have the rest of the country covered and are now setting sail for new horizons. They could have said the same, we’re doing very well in three states, don’t need nsw and qlnd rusted on rl states, but they aren’t as dumb as us.

They could try and expand to nz Newcastle cairns Canberra vs tasmania

afl is stagnating no growth options left and going backwards in nsw and qld

meanwhile the dolphins have been a massive success for the good guys

Perth on their own like png are worth nothing to Australian tv

only nz2 or brisbane 3 offer value in themselves to their broadcasters

Which is why I think Ch9 will push for a third Brisbane team. Head of Strategy WWOS Simon Fordham confirmed Ch9 want another team in Queensland to increase the amount of games played in SEQ.

For Fordham, making the most of this momentum looks like bringing more games to the region – and potentially another team.

Fordham: “We’re really committed to working with the NRL in growing the competition, and Queensland is a big part of that. We think there’s room for another team here in Queensland, and the Dolphins have been the perfect example.

“The more games we can get played featuring Queensland teams in Southeast Queensland, the better. The engagement in rugby league here is just next level, and the energy of the crowds has a material impact on the quality of the broadcasts that we make. It helps create atmosphere, it makes the commentary team rise, it makes the production team rise.”

I wouldn't be surprised if the 20th AwFuL licence is awarded to a third Perth team. The major of Joondalup is keen on the idea.

Over 50% of Australians live in NSW and Queensland. Brisbane is the fastest growing city in Australia. AwFuL needs Brisbane and Sydney far more than NRL needs Adelaide and Perth.

NZ2 has to be ahead of Perth.
