Yeah. I can understand the difference between the fumblers and the NRL - like it or lump it their game is longer and they have bigger audiences on FTA.

There is absolutely no reason at all why they are getting more for Pay TV rights. That part is absolutely ridiculous.

They also have more exclusive games that pushes the value up.

Pay TV won't pay more in 2028, so there is no issue there

They could try and expand to nz Newcastle cairns Canberra vs tasmania

afl is stagnating no growth options left and going backwards in nsw and qld

meanwhile the dolphins have been a massive success for the good guys
Again rubbish, if tassie enters then canberra likely will be next. in twenty years it could be another perth team And another brisbane team, even a nt team if someone’s stupid enough to fund it. They aren’t done yet I suspect.

they’ve avoided expanding into regional areas mostly, I wonder why? anything to do with metro markets being more valuable I wonder?

Which is why I think Ch9 will push for a third Brisbane team. Head of Strategy WWOS Simon Fordham confirmed Ch9 want another team in Queensland to increase the amount of games played in SEQ.

For Fordham, making the most of this momentum looks like bringing more games to the region – and potentially another team.
Fordham: “We’re really committed to working with the NRL in growing the competition, and Queensland is a big part of that. We think there’s room for another team here in Queensland, and the Dolphins have been the perfect example.
“The more games we can get played featuring Queensland teams in Southeast Queensland, the better. The engagement in rugby league here is just next level, and the energy of the crowds has a material impact on the quality of the broadcasts that we make. It helps create atmosphere, it makes the commentary team rise, it makes the production team rise.”
How much did ch9 pay for dolphins?

This is why I stopped taking you seriously. It's been pointed out to you, ad nauseum, that News Ltd paid more in exchange for getting exclusive access to more Broncos games. Ch9 aren't going to pay more when they lose access to the biggest draw in SEQ.

Again, I'll point out that Ch9 are on record saying they want another Queensland team to produce more content in SEQ. I don't recall them saying they want a team in Perth.

GWS has a ten year deal with Canberra. There's no way AwFuL is going to f**k that up by putting a team in Canberra within the next 10 years.

NT will lose $15m a year. There's no way AwFuL will take on that burden when they're bailing out clubs in SEQ and Sydney.

By that time nrl will be 100 million viewers ahead
I’m mostly fine, recovering from surgery but doing ok thanks.
I’m just interested to see what this 66% relates to.
sports advertising on tv

66 percent is in rugby league areas

as I said advertising to the povos of Adelaide isnr very valuable
that’s what you said

maybe you lost it in New Zealand

The FTA games for the Storm, Lions, Swans, Suns and GWS are usually relegated to the secondary channels in their home markets. An advertisement during a game on 7Mate or 9Gem isn't going to be worth as much as one on Ch7 or Ch9.
That's mostly true. However, I think the secret strength that the NRL has is that it can show 2 complete games in a 4 hour prime time block. This means - depending on the FTA network that gets the rights next - could in theory target 3-4 metros across those slots.

For example: 6:30pm Perth vs Rabbitohs. 8:30pm Broncos vs Storm.

There's enough combinations of Broncos, Dolphins, Storm, Perth & the big 4-5 Sydney teams to do this for an entire season.

We saw previously with the delayed double header that the NRL was holding about 2/3rds of the audience for the second delayed game that was bloated with ads. These are both live games. I think in this scenario you'd hold closer to 80-95% watching back to back. They could potentially get weekly 1.5 million national audiences.

Interesting because I dont recall saying it and its not where i normally keep this information. Do you have a quote handy?

or maybe you are making this up....just like you want to do with New Zealand
Nz it’s like the Bermuda Triangle for you isn’t it

and you should see how many people on Twitter are calling you out on your methodology

you can’t block everyone who disagrees with you can you ?

Well when you think about what I said the other day regarding regional NSW & QLD, those areas have about 9-10 times the population of Tasmania. Hobart's nice to visit but it's small potatoes.

I’m not sure we are even one potato anymore. I can’t see any reason why the NRL would invest down here. Too much hard work for too little return. I know because I gave it a go myself. That’s why the terms of the AFL team down here are so one sided. There really isn’t anything for them to gain down here.

52 percent plus of Australia is under control of rugby league

even if you ignore nz having Perth and Adelaide doesn’t make up for regional nsw or qld

it’s funny when people think the only Australians that matter are people who live in capital cities

and let’s be honest Adelaide is a povo capital so is tamania

That is why The AFL haven't gone to the Regional areas, None in the AFL states have the population

That is my point with WA too, In theory the NRL should invest more in these states but the money is better spent elsewhere

So ch9 want more brisbane teams but won’t pay anything Extra for them. Geez we should be really listening to their wants lol

Ive acknowledged many times the limitations on getting data from NZ. I can do no more.

and you should see how many people on Twitter are calling you out on your methodology

Unless they have some actual data then I dont give a damn what they have to say.

you can’t block everyone who disagrees with you can you ?

I dont block people who are civil and constructive, Ill block any clown that keeps on about something no one has any clue about.
