Then partner with a production company and sell it to these streaming companies. Even if its just to squeeze more out of Nein and Fox.

Then you are looking at $50m just to break even.

Or you take the $550-$600m the next deal brings with the 3 bidders

Remember Amazon Prime only exists to sell their shopping to people. You'd need to be able to attract people from overseas markets for that investment.

Remembering they paid $1b a year for Thursday night NFL. To a target of 12m people, When RL can offer that then they become a viable option

Hopefully foxtel, stan, prime and paramount are all serious bidders. How much fox have in the kitty after shelling out for AFL so much will be interesting to see.
I would think and hope that if Foxtel don't put their hands deep into their pockets they will lose the NRL to one of their competitors. Losing the NRL would also probably make Kayo borderline viable.

For 1 more deal I'd say. After that the world will be ready to have major sports streaming online I believe.

If this US venture takes off or UK keeps growing it becomes viable.

On the World scale the rights are cheap, For market size we are just too small to make it worth while.

There needs to be atleast 10m subs to make it worth it for players like that to get involved. We are no where near that yet

All of us rugby league fans need to let News Ltd know we're not happy with the favouritism they show towards fumbleball. Phone them up and say we'll unsubscribe from Foxtel/Kayo and watch the game at the pub because Mr Murdoch prefers to watch 36 blokes fumble a ball and fist a behind for a point.

Have you ever tried ringing Foxtel? It's one of the worst customer service experiences you can ever endure.

But protesting something he said in 2015 is a unique take.

Id be happy to see NRL produce its own game content and Amazon prime get streaming all games with Ch10/Paramount get 5 games a weekend of the 10 that should be available by then.
Sell an Origin/Test bundle off to the highest bidder.
Best chance wed have of getting $500mil plus a year imo and we'd be far more in control of our own destiny.

Never happen though Fox still own the game and we are kidding ourselves if we think anything different. Vlandys just the latest News Ltd stooge to be in charge.

Content generation by NRL is what Grant and Smith were planning before they were ousted imo.

Amazon Australia has revenue of over $2.6bill a year, the streaming service may be a marketing tool for their main business but its a damn effective one and getting 1million NRL fans on board would be enticing you'd think.
