Either way, Stan/9 don't want to be paying for a competition only for it to lose the 50 best players.

At this stage, Stan would be taking a huge risk having a deal longer than 1 season. If they are going to do a long deal they need a clause to let them renegotiate a new deal if Super Rugby does lose its top players.

If Stan get the league they won’t need union

Won’t have any good timeslots either for games since league has them

So Stan will do a deal to broadcast Super Rugby until the end of 2027, if Stan win the NRL starting in 2028 Super Rugby will likely have to find a new broadcaster for 2028 onwards ?

If they don’t do a deal soon (exclusive period runs out late December) then I don’t think they care if they keep it or not

Foxpsorts would probably take it but for less than 30 million

For Stan to outbid foxsports for the nrl they are need to going to pay a lot which I can’t see them doing

Fox will be more desperate. Nine already has league content and at a very cheap price compared to what the pay tv rights will cost

Nine currently get 2 games a week plus exclusive gf and origins for 115 million a year

Fox pay 250 million pa for the rest

Ironically it could end up being a bit like our FTA deal, most of it will be for internationals, just like most of ours is for finals and SOO, but they`ll get even more of a pittance for the super rugby comp. A-League is in the same boat.
I do fear that Foxtel might try and grab the rights to union again though, they sure are giving it a lot of coverage in the sports section of The Australian these days, that make me nervous,no bidding wars thanks, I want those union bastards being held over a barrel by one broadcaster. I`m not sure what their coverage is like in their tabloids though.

Is contemplating scrapping reserve grade and make the KOE Cup the 2nd tier comp with two or three feature games per week got any merit.
It would be an national comp including Brisbane teams.
NRL reserves would still come from the second tier "feeder" clubs announced on Tuesday.
I know this sounds stupid but to expand the game this would be great.
Teams like Ipswich and Burleigh Heads, NSW South Coast teams and of course any state that can field an NRL STD comp.
NSWTV kicked of their televised games this year of Harold Matt's right up to flegg and I loved it. Qld did nuppin.
It would even be better having more NRL players sprinkled across all teams.
As far as relegation delegation goes I reckon it should 2 teams that go up and down.
Should I have another nap?

Fox will only want the Union rights if they had subscribers leave when they lost the rights to Stan and want those subscribers back.
