Who can say what they are worth, but to adding a 17th club only generated an extra $20million in the tv deal. Lets hope adding PNG and Perth is seen as more valuable!

Abdo has said we aren't getting 20 teams.

NRLW's timeslots and slowly slowly approach to expansion

Then we have wanting to reduce the season

All takes value off the next deal

lol, pretty sure if you read the press release everything your blithering on about was covered excpet the Saturday night detail.

Yep well get $400mill ish this year and they'll get $550mill ish from tv this year. End of day thats all that really matters.
The Wooki
"""oddly enough Mclachlan announced a $942m AFL rights extension for 2023 and 2024.

With cash and contra it came to $935.74m """

If we take out Telstra $100m or $50m per year (2) We Get $835m for the years 2023 and 2024, The AFL

"get $400mill ish" per year -Perth Red So not much difference between The NRL and AFL.
And it our turn to make a deal.

Difference is that was a 2 year stop gap filler till their new deal, ours was a 5 year contract. So yeh 2024 the Tv cash was similar (probably around $10-20mill in AFL's favour) but for 2025-2027 that gap grows to $130-50mill! or up to $450mill cash difference in the tv deals until our new one starts (yet to be seen what it is then). Thats a lot of difference and will contribute to a revenue gap between the codes in 2025 that unprecedented!

What point? You don't have a point.

You're an argumentive, petty, delusional sycophantic twit who has this obsession with trying to prove how big a rugby league fan you are.

Union is huge in the UK and France. They ain't joining NRL teams no matter how much gushing frothy nonsense you splash around.
why is it so important to ya when ya not even in the discussion to begin with? oh thats right ya alwaysloser, the resident forum loser who obsesses over the same half dozen posters every single day and cannot go a day without trying ya hardest to get their attention,

The fact the two deals are similar dispells any notion that a few loonies on here made that the afl deserves more because their game has more ad breaks or that ratings aren’t that relevant to the value of tv deals

Kind of but you have to take into consideration NRL tv revenue includes overseas rights and AFL is domestic only. If you compare just what each code is worth to Australian Tv the gap in 2024 becomes $40-50mill and $175mill+ in 2025!

Hey afl is selling 18 Australian clubs
Nrl is selling 16 Australian clubs

Taking out the nz tv deal and adjusting for two extra afl teams would mean the Aussie nrl rights are ahead of the afl

yes both codes have their pros and cons for tv value. AFL more content and more ad breaks, better reach into other states
NRL bigger audiences, marque event games and Int reach

Eh? Nrl sold 17 teams in the 2023> deal. You cant take Warriors out, they still create content for Australian tV. All be it there inclusion may be lessor valued by Australian TV.

Ok 16.5 teams

I agree with the rest

Afl has longer games v nrl has higher ratings and games like origin and pacific cup plus nz

There’s no reason why nrl doesn’t get a higher tv deal than afl at least with nz and maybe ong down the track included

I agree, but it will take numerous bidders and Vlandys not to do anything stupid again.

People need to chill about Pvl and the tv deal

He was worried about the nrl being in breach of the tv contract and getting sued and he panicked and signed a five year deal

Afl was lucky to sit back and see what he did and pivot for their benefit. They also copied him and started their comp again after we did
