MNF doesn't make the competition fair at all. Everyone's already played and preparing for the next round, except the two teams that still need to play on Monday night. Plus five days of footy can be overkill.

Just stick with Sunday night, and accept a slighty lesser deal.

Mnf = $$$$$
V’landys was tight-lipped about potential bids, but this masthead can reveal existing rights holders Fox Sports and Channel 9 officially have competition for the NRL’s TV rights.
A third network has contacted the ARL Commission to formally express interest.”

All our hopes in getting rid of the garbage strangling the game re: the six again rests in these negotiations. Either Nine or Fox need to go to the NRL with "Listen, either you ditch this shit, or you can shave a billion off the price tag. That's the deal."

Yea whatever your thoughts on set restarts, ratings have exploded since it's introduction. The broadcast partners would be the last to demand a change

I don’t mind MNF but it doesn’t need yo be used every week. Early season yes, school holidays yes, but not every week. Just look at what ThNF is like mid season

Ugh. Please no.

Why can't we just do something like this?

Friday - 7:30pm
Saturday - 1:30pm, 3pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm
Sunday - 2pm, 4pm, 6pm

I couldn't give a shit about games overlapping, I don't care about ratings or TV revenue.

And when we introduce a 10th game, just put it on Sunday a 1pm.

6 again is the best rule change to happen to the game.

Are you forgetting what the game was like before ? The ruck speed was slower than the NFL, no line breaks and no offloads, just 5 hit ups and a kick and when a penalty was awarded the game would stop for 2 minutes while players got thier breathe back and cam smith had a meeting with ref. It got to the point teams were deliberately giving away penalties when they needed a time out.

and if memory serves me correctly it was ch 9 who told the NRL to fix this sh#t if they wanted any broadcast money.

The ratings and crowds have exploded now that the game is watchable.

so No, broadcasters won’t ask for the 6 again to be ditched.

The six again set restart rule is the best thing that's ever happened to the game.

Just need to fix the bunker, sin bins for accidents and get rid of most of the penalties awarded

We used to laugh at how many stupid penalties rugby union used to award then we copied them

Too many stoppages esp bunker reviews which give players a chance to get their breath back

If players dive stay down or milk then automatic hia

Agreed there are too many nit picking 6 agains, Joey John’s made the point that the NRL has as many penalties as Union these days.

but based on Abdos recent comments the NRL are aware the game is being over officiated and need to pull it back.

The NRL aren’t dummies, they know the game needs to be the best product possible to maximise the broadcast deal.

Too afraid of a concussion lawsuit to make the changes that are required

Gus has been right all along bunker should only be for put down / try scoring

Penalties should only be for something that isn’t trivial or an accident

Six again
Capt challenge
40 20
2 pt field goals
1 on field ref

Have all been good changes

I agree with most of this but the bunker has to be a priority. It’s universally hated and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a change in rugby league turn people off watching as much as this. When the game just stops for multiple minutes for this bullshit you can feel your interest dropping.

Im hoping that absolutely ridiculous situation where they went back for that sin bin might be a catalyst for change.

6 agains created the most uneven comp we've had in decades, and have given the refs more influence over the game than they ever had before. It should have been a good change, but has been implemented horribly.

If the refs just applied the rules of the game we would not need this6 again BS. They let the Storm get away with wrestling, every team had to copy to compete, they then introduced 6 again to speed the game up and the weaker teams seem to cop it more.

Just apply the rules. If a team is dumb enough to keep transgressing, penalise the f#uckers.

And this moderate force no mitigating circumstances crap that has crept into the game. These refs miss blatant forward passes under their noses but suddenly turn into motion and force experts.

While ratings and crowds are up, the administrators will leave it in the too hard basket.

Totally random and refs are under no scrutiny for when and what they call. It’s massively changing game momentum. all you have to do is look at how many 6 agains are called inside the defenders half compared to penalties in the other half for offside or laying on.
