Pretty much as no reason has been given and like I said there is no way in the world if that was the reason grant would admit it. I've been in a room and listened to John grant lie to the audience in the room about the nrl's plans for Perth so forgive me if I don't hold much stead in his word.

Tell me why do you think he walked from a $million a year job right in the middle of one of the most crucial times for the game when his vision was only half realised? Give us an opinion, play the ball not the man.

Smith wasn't the one with the vision, Grant is. Smith was just there to implement it and improve the processes of the Nrl and turn it into a business. As for the salary I'm sure he could earn far more in the banking industry. Smith wasn't really a league fan so I don't know why anyone woulde expect him to earn less money having more stress doing a job he wasn't passionate about.

Actually what I said was "I hope that news weren't the reason" I have no idea if they were or weren't. Timing is Suss and no reason for his departure in the middle of important period for the game has been given so we are left to make guesses. Grant has said he is dissapointed he left without telling us why he left. Of course he is going to say it had nothing to do with news led pressure, anything else would be a complete admission of weakness. Of course it could well be the case it had nothing to do with the negotiations, as I said I HOPE SO.

Actually, as far as timing goes, this seems to have been a long term plan...

There is aways going to be a another big deal that is unsigned and projects that are unfinished, they just need to make sure the transition is smooth.

The fact that the announcement came in mid-Novermber says that he has been planning to go for a few months but didnt want to distract from the end of the 2015 season or the start of 2016.

If the announcement had come in March orSeptember, then i would be curious. But, they all need to leave some time...

He wasn't even in the top 3 backs at the broncos by the time he left.
Lockyer
Hodges
Yow Yeh
Folau

I'd have had him there ahead of Yow Yeh, but I agree he was overrated. The fact that he can kill it in Union after however much time mucking around in AFL is a blight on their depth of talent.

To be fair he was better in League than that knob Hodges (a seriously over rated player who never really learned to tackle) and was both a Qld and Kangaroo player, so it's not like he was some park footy player who just walked into the Wallabies.

Anyway back on topic, News look to be in a bit of strife http://www.smh.com.au/business/medi...to-axe-55-editorial-jobs-20151122-gl5ccn.html

I wonder if Burb Becs gets the flick from Rupe's evil empire.
That would be like having all my birthday parties at once, with copious amounts of grog and food.

Her being flicked would make my day.

Can't see the likes of Wilson, Bolt, Devine etc getting the flick. They are too integral to the poor unwashed masses.
