The NRL don't want one test mid season. They're hardly going to have three lions tests. There's only one country that consistently screws international RL.

Look the Kangaroo tours were after the domestic comp finished - October to December.

The Lions toured during our comp, around May - June.

So when the pommy pricks went to a summer comp that was the finish of such tours, we didn't change they did.

Not at all. They've positioned the deal so expansion is on FOX wanting an extra game. The clubs CANNOT say no to expansion if FOX want an extra game.

Because a mickey mouse test is gone? Please.

City v Country is not the be all and end all of bush footy. Bring this point up if some of this money doesn't get to the country clubs.

Jesus christ, this deal is huge for the game and you merkins still want to complain over shit that may not even happen.

Ah there we have it. Test football is "mickey mouse". This is the attitude the NRL and its sychofants have. What a f**king disgrace.

And if NONE of the last billion got to country clubs why would any of the next billion?

Just because the kind of fan who is just as short sighted and ignorant as the NRL think its a good deal doesn't make it good in reality.

God you're a whiny prick.

Most people have been complaining for a decade that test football comes before origin, they have now put it into proper succession. It now has a place in the season for test football, it's back on the agenda, it's being shown more respect than it has in previous deals and will likely correspond with an 8 year test calendar the RLIF have been working on.

Smith said they had talks about expansion with networks and the deal provides for that opportunity if the game takes it, today doesn't mean it's off the table, but unless a club relocates expansion was never going to happen with 4 clubs being propped up and the playing depth not great.

9 definitely need to start grooming some new commentators now, whether that is by cultivating rookies or poaching foxtel talent.

Perhaps stealing radio talent, although Hadley has proved how hard the transition is.

Isn't one of Warren's son's a racecaller? That'll do.

You aren't referring to Mark Warren??? No way would I tune in if he's calling. He sounds like Rabs and Hadley combined, and an ego the size of Clive Palmer's guts. Ask all the Parramatta supporters who had to put up with his long-suffering antics as ground announcer at their stadium.

Ch9 need to bring Voss back, it won't happen.

Are you at least happy that the NRL has control of the schedule?

Who gives a f**k. They have complete control so they use it to homogenise the product even more and f**k international football and the kangaroo brand in favour of clubs and origin. If that's what power does take it off them.

It has a place for test football. The same f**king place it already had. Except we used to have the addition of a proper in-season test. Now we dont. But the spin doctor still tries to call that an improvement. The Davey boy fan club might believe this shit buy anyone who doesn't want to suck him off won't.

There is only one thing that will help Country RL and that is more money...Not a Mickey mouse one off game a year played in front of 6,000

Same with NZ and the Pacific...money for juniors...not playing a one sided game in May that NZ won this year for the first time in 15 years or so..

Wait and see how the additional money is spent first...

East coast tiger I'm a massive advocate for the international element of the game but I think you've jumped the gun here. They have said that the stand alone alone origin weekend will also have the Pacific tests. It's still two and a half years away so who's not to say that this open up the possibility of a regular test series involving aus, nz, eng and a Pacific island rep team (a-la west Indies in cricket). We don't know.

Well I was surprised, to hear this announced today. I was hoping another Chanel would get the FTA rights, but no Ch9 got it again. Fox I think will have to prove value for money to stay with them from 2018. I do hope the Auckland 9 will be picked up another FTA network?
Ch9 frankly needs a clean out of its broadcast team and revamp the broadcast....

The funny thing is, the international game is the strongest its been for 20yrs. A proper world cup schedule, regular four nations, cups tournaments for developing nations. All of this has happened while the NRL has been around. But scrap a game that many thought was treated more like an exhibition then a test, and all of a sudden there's a big conspiracy to bury the international game.

It will be spent the same way the additonal money has been spent this time. Elite players, player managers and consultants.

The geniuss are going to have to give the crl and nzrl more money now because theyve just killed of their main sources of revenue and their biggest means of promotion and develpment. f**king oxygen thieves.

One other thing, Smith specifically said (I think I read) that the international rights are still up for grabs. It's in the nrl's interest to ale this as meaningful as possible.

I didn't say its because of the NRL. You're the one claiming a conspiracy by the NRL yet the whole time its been around the international game has gone from strength to strength.
