What are your thoughts on the contract that the Steelers just handed Gilbert?

That Gilbert deal looks pretty ok. He's not really anything above a solid starter IMO, but that's all they've really paid him to be.

I think they're paying him what they think he will be rather than what he has shown so far, even saying that it still only looks like average starter money so the expectations aren't too high.

He played injured all of last season, came in this year and has dropped some weight and impressed in camp and the pre-season games so far. Munchak has had time to evaluate him. this deal doesn't get done without his approval and I'm more than happy to trust him.
