POP singer Guy Sebastian will forgo his famous 'fro to promote a range of hair products for youth brand Wakk.
Tressed for sucess: Guy and model Bonnie.
The Australian Idol winner's trademark locks will appear tamed, teased and twisted in a national campaign that asks the public to nominate one of his three new looks.
The competition launches on October 4 on radio, in teen magazines and Priceline stores, and offers entrants the opportunity to meet the 22-year-old singer.
In a timely move by Wakk manufacturer Sabre Corporation, the promotion will coincide with the release of Sebastian's second album, Beautiful Life.
"Guy is releasing his new single at the moment, and his album on October 18, which is well-timed for us," said Sabre Corporation marketing director Robyn Pitt. "It's great, but the negotiations and discussions with Guy happened before we even knew he was bringing out the album."
Sebastian - whose debut single, Angels Brought Me Here, is Australia's fastest and highest-selling single at 280,000 copies - said he was comfortable being 'fro-less.
"For a long while now, I've only ever had the 'fro, so it's been cool to try a few different things. It's been fun," Sebastian said.
His distinctive look, linked with his massive mainstream following, made Sebastian the obvious choice for Wakk's one-off campaign.
"Obviously, the hair link was perfect because he's so well-known for his 'fro, so we thought it was a fantastic idea to do something different with it," Ms Pitt said.
The Wakk competition will run until the end of November.
