'Chainsaw Massacre' was pretty sickening. It was so bloody gorry. I would also put The Passion of the Christ in the same category.

I have to say when i saw John Q at the drive ins i was like completly blown away
I think the fact that i only went to see 8 mile which was the 2nd movie helped
I was like pretty disapointed by 8 mile in the end.

It depends on what ur definition of blew away is. Shreck would fit into that category for me cuz of the animation on it as well as the actors putting their own unique flair into the charaters. (Especially Eddie Murphy)

I would have to agree that most Disney/Pixar Movies are good because they are enjoyable for both children and adults.
I like this as working with children it means that i am able to talk with the children about the movies they watch and like Finding Nemo etc.

I dunno is it just me, what does everyone else think?

My favourite movie was Ocean's 11, I really enjoyed that. I also liked Black Hawk Down, great movie to watch with your mates on a Saturday night. I'm also a James Bond fan and the Bourne Identity I thought was good as well, can't wait to see the Bourne Supremacy.

Honourable mentions
-Remember the Titans
-AMerican history X
-Rush Hour 1 & 2
-Lethal Weapon 4
-Analyze that
-The recruit
-American pie 1 and 3
-Once were warriors
-What becomes of the broken hearted

You have excellent taste in movies, Alex28. All of the movies you mention would be on my list, with 'Eternal Sunshine' a clear leader. I've never been so absolutely awe-struck by a movie in my life. I really enjoyed all of Kauffman's previous films (yet to see 'Human Nature' though), and Memento was just amazing. Big Fish was great as well, but Burton has a habit of making enchanting films. 'Ed Wood' was just great.

Didn't enjoy 'Mystic River' so much, maybe because I couldn't take Tim Robbins' seriously. Amazing actor (as evidenced by The Shawshank Redemption), but he just seemed to be hamming it up.

Stephen King adaptations usually flop, but Shawshank and 'The Green Mile' were both powerfully done. Most others are a little disappointing.

i meant to edit my original post and commend your taste as well. :) 'Punch-Drink Love' is a great film as well. Also 'The Royal Tenenbaums' and 'Rushmore' are fantastic - Wes Anderson makes some amazing stuff - love his sense of humour...so dark and warped. Also, the Coen Brothers films are cool as well - 'The Big Lebowski' is a must for everyone to see.

Im with you chris on mystic river....i liked it but i wasnt blown away by it. I found it very predictable.

Are you ever confused if you liked a film or not? Punch drunk love left me very confused. I either loved it or hated it....still not sure.

Whoa, you keep surprising me Alex28. Punch Drunk Love is one of my favourite movies. Adam Sandler blew me away with his performance in that. I enjoy some of the Coen Brother's stuff, namely 'Intolerable Cruelty' and 'O, Brother Where Art Thou?'. Not so huge on 'Fargo', and I've yet to see 'The Big Lebowski'.

'Lost in Translation' was another really good one, I know everyone I saw it with came out with their own interpretations.

I was kind of disturbed by Mystic River, even though it was predictable. I was just pretty stunned at how much child abuse can screw up somebody's entire life...
Other movies which really got to me in a disturbing kind of way were Blue Car and Thirteen.
I loved Big Fish too! I work at a video store and a lot of customers really, really hated it, they thought I was incredibly strange for recommending it to them.

Pussy Girls and the Party Orgy. Jenna Jameson really puts in a great performance, man that girls gotta hurt.

That was stupid
I must say Johnny Depp did a great job, however Ed Wood was a freak.

Lucky 7... I like that they put fuuny things in that adults will get so they enjoy the movie as well.

The Leathal Weapon movies are a classic.

I really like 'Lost in Translation' as well - the only thing that shits me is that I cant make out what he says at the end - that would solve some of the mystery of the film...not alot of plot but beautifully made - plus Scarlett Johansson is a betty. 'The Virgin Suicides' is a good film as well.

Chris - you totally have to see 'The Big Lebowski' - awesome drinking film...

I heard you were supposed to 'make up' what Bill Murray said at the end of the film. My flatmate had the same reason to be frustrated with it. I didn't really get into 'The Virgin Suicides', but I was in a 'popcorn flik' kind of mood when I saw it.

In the realm of foreign films, has anyone seen 'Irreversable' with Monica Belluci and Vincent Cassell? That was an amazing film. Painful to watch, but amazing.
