I just remembered one from when I was a kid, Mortal Kombat. Hell Yeah.
It was aimed right at me, I was 13, it had awesome (for then) fx, fighting, music (it was a phase)humour and hotties. I still like it in that, you remember how you felt when, kinda way.

As for others, Signs is great, I love X-Men 2, Braveheart,

X-Men 2 has been the best 'comic to silver screen' conversion I've seen done so far. Spiderman and Spiderman 2 were both entertaining, and the rest have basically been disappointments. Yet to see 'The Punisher', but reviews haven't painted the rosiest of pictures.

Stephen King adaptations usually flop, but Shawshank and 'The Green Mile' were both powerfully done. Most others are a little disappointing.

What about Stand By Me? I also liked It but probably because that was the first King novel I read, so I'm probably drawing on my memory of the novel instead of the movie.
On another Steven King note, one of my all time fave Stephen King novels was one he wrote with Peter Straub - The Talisman. It's not like your normal King novel as it's a fantasy (much like the Dark Tower series). Anyway, just found out recently that the film adaptation is in production. I'll be looking forward to that one.

I've yet to see 'Stand By Me'. I never seem to be able to find it. It's the only King short story that I've never been able to finish, coincidentally, I just can't get into the writing style he elected to choose.

For me, Stephen King's more recent novels (Dreamcatcher and From a Buick 8) are some of his better work. More refined horror. Will have to check out 'The Talisman' though.

the hurricane and the green mile blew me away cause of the racail hatred in the movies. i grew up in the nt and went to school and had friends with people from all over the world and couldn't understand how people could be so cruel to another person just because they were from a different race. so these two movies really made my skin crawl

You have got to see stand by me, chris. Its a ripsnorter. It was the first movie i watched so much that i had the script memorised. (the 2nd was young guns but we wont go there  )

NEW QUESTION: What ending to a film do you wish you could change?

I know its a true story but i wish i could change the ending to 'the perfect storm' Poor bastards.
Also the next star wars film....I dont want anakin(sp?) to go to the dark side. :(

I must say Johnny Depp did a great job, however Ed Wood was a freak.

Lol, He was a huge freak but it's so much funnier knowing it all happened. Have you ever seen any ed wood flicks? they are classic, Plan 9 from Outer Space is freaking great with how bad it is. Also Glen or Glenda is fascinating. How back then he could pass off a movie about being a transvestite as horror when its pretty much a given these days makes ya think.

But yeah movies that i love; Fight Club, Battle Royale, Secretary, being john malcovich, Chopper, Fargo and any Tarantino flick bar Jackie Brown. (not sure what he was trying to do with this one, blaxploitation is cheesy any way you look at it.)

I liked Eternal Sunshine but not sure it blew me away. Might have to watch it again. Adaptation i didn't like at all.

Also went and saw Donnie Darko directors cut at the Dendy last week and still think it is fantastic. Not sure which version I prefer though, I think the original cos it makes you think so many possibilities. The directors cut really explains it better though.

Mine was (and still is) The Breakfast Club. I must have watched that close to 100 times.

Saving Private Ryan. I hate that Tom Hanks was killed.

If I could change the ending to a movie, it'd probably be 'The Village'. I was just so disappointed that a good storyline was ruined by a shitty ending, same goes for 'Signs', really.

Or another movie where a few people were "blown" away - Deep Throat with Linda Lovelace.
