No1 English forward in the NRL?

Who knows. The Dogs probably have the most money spent on their front rowers than any other club.

They've got 3 props that were highly sort after and could demand the 300k type of pay. Between Tolman, Kasiano and Graham, that's a lot of money on front rowers.

None of them are on that much.... Tolman be the highest paid of them because we took him from the Storm during the salary cap scandal.

Graham is on good money, they don't come over here for free. $300k+ for sure. His manager would be no muppet and they would've pointed at the impact of Burgess and Ellis before signing any deal. He was signed by the last regime too, they were maybe not as astute with a chequebook as Hasler. No chance they got him "cheap".

Tolman is reported to be on $250k so that is probably in the ballpark.

No player in the Doggies squad at the start of this year was on less than $100k so put big Kas on that much and $300k next year according to the reports on his new deal.

Actually I'm pretty sure we have a current deal with some English clubs to do with player development; so maybe that played a role with him signing.

Oh and Todd has always been one astute mother f**ker ! :D

lol what ? hahaha

Where the hell did that figure come from ? We have plenty of players on minimum wage.

Graham changed the game when he came on last night, for whatever reason he hasn't got as much media attention as the other two...unsure why

Burgess is a brilliant player but still has more mistakes in him then most top rate forwards

Ellis has won the tigers player of the year in the 3 years he has been here. More often then not it is him, not benji or Farah, that comes up with a big play when the game is on the line. This may be a big hit or run but the team looks to him and he usually delivers.

Atm Ellis, burgess, graham

All three are fantastic players

Hi guys. Yep.. James Graham is a dud. Please keep thinking that and us Dogs fans will keep loving him.

I would rather have Burgess, more upside and only 23.

I'm not sure why Graham is always starting on the bench, if he isn't good enough to start the game what was the point in paying him all that money? Surely it could of been used elsewhere and Graham could of gone to another team in the NRL who needed his services more.

He plays about 60 minutes a game. Comes on and stays on. He's well worth the money he's on

This is it, he plays off the bench but not to give blokes a break or anything, stays around.

No coincidence we score so many points between the 20-40 minute mark.

I rank the Englishmen in the NRL like this

1 Burgess
2 Ellis
3 Graham
4 Heignington
5 Reed

Widdop is better than Heighington imo.

Good comment that England has never had problems with their forwards, although I remember around the early 1980's they kept picking over 30s fat Lancastrians and we picked the likes of Price, Boyd, Lazarus et al and smashed them.

If Aussies, Ellis and Burgess would be in origin frame. Graham got huge attention when he arrived. And being a bench player is not inferior at all. Its all about when they come on - do you want your guns on when the bruising opening salvos are fired, or coming on fresh when tiredness sets in?

Its great to see so many gun Pommy forwards out here. Pommy forwards have a historical mark on our game. Mal Reilly and Phil Lowe were crucial to Manly's first premierships. John Gray revolutionised the way we kick goals. Blokes like Lee Crooks, Mike Stevenson, Brian Lockwood, Kevin Ward and Harvey Howard were great here. Then a combination of our salary cap and their strong pound stopped them coming, until Adrian Morely came over.

IMHO it would improve their test side if more forwards and backs came over here. Given the state of global economic affairs, I would expect it to happen.

It was hard to pick between Burgess and Graham last night - they were both great.

Graham really lifted the dogs when he came on. Great player.

Burgess is an absolute talent and I'd love him to play at my club.

All 3 of them are fantastic forwards that any club would want in their team.

Good for England and the International game.

Ellis > S.Burgess > J.Graham > L.Burgess > G.Burgess.

It's a shame Jon Wilkin never came over, always rated him.

I think Sam Burgess is the best English forward in the first 2 rounds this season he was utterly dominant. I think they should move him to the front row i think he becomes more involved. Ellis has been superb for the Tigers for years and Graham i think is a fantastic player, he is a throw back to older style forward, he is involved in at least 2 tackles every set with the ball whether running a decoy tipping the ball off or making a hit up he is a real thinking mans forward and a bit of a throwback to the old style of British forward.

It will be interesting to see if more come here considering the success of Morley,Ellis,Carney,Burgess and now Graham. I think Great Britain have had pretty good forwards for at least a decade now.

the likes of Sculthorpe,Farrell,Sinfield,Cunningham,Fielden pre 06, Peacock, Could of all been good to great players in the NRL in my opinion. But when it comes to backs maybe only Carney and Senior stood out as consistently quality players.

At least now with Tomkins,Hall,Briscoe there are some good outside backs coming through. If they could find a half from somewhere since there hasn't been a world class British half since Gary Schofield it might make test football more competitive.

Hopefully some backline players can come to the NRL and show some ability. If there is a young halfback in the Super League who has the potential to become very good they should send them to the NRL. It would improve them as players immensely and the best time to send them is now with a dearth of quality half backs around.

Graham is the best of the three by far. It seems to me like he's being used wrongly in the Bulldogs team. I can't imagine him having much if any impact coming off the bench.

Gareth Ellis has spent 3/4 of his time here on the sidelines
Let's see, Ellis has been at Wests since 2009.

2009 - 22 games out of 24
2010 - 24 games out of 27
2011 - 18 games out of 26
2012 - 4 games out of 12
Total - 68 games out of 89 = roughly 3/4 of his time on the field

Seems like some people have short memories...

Just wait til Gil Dudson comes over...

Still young and raw, but of all the young Wigan forwards, he's really impressed me this year.
