Seems like it’s often the case of which club is involved, the power of Uncle Nick, Gus and others seems to have a pretty direct influence on outcomes.
Then again, the media mates just say nothing to see here, move along. It’s not difficult to be cynical given what we see occur.
I was surprised the NRL forced the dogs to pay for Jack Jackson salary this year in the cap. It was the correct call &
knowing that Gus pulled a swifty with Jackson.

But with his influence i thought the NRL would have rolled over and got that taken out of the cap.

The NRL can't say who a player plays for.
But they can refuse to register a player. That’s how they enforce the cap. Souths can pay Wighton whatever they want, for whatever role, but if he plays rugby league the NRL decides whether they get competition points for their wins. That’s how they enforce the salary cap without it being a restraint of trade.

So remind me how this will play out with Canberra lodging their $1.1m offer with the NRL ? If he signs for (say) $800k with the Bunnies, is that his business or he can't ?

Of course it’s his business. He can go where he wants. It’s probably similar money to what he’s on now so it’s not as if it’s ridiculous unders. Plus he can say he wants to play for a club that strongly represents his culture. As if the NRL is going to argue with that.

I always thought the Raiders putting in their offer publicly to the NRL was a waste of time. It meant nothing.

I always wonder how Folau would have gone for us if we secured him for 2013.

Would he & Hayne made a deadly combo with the shit we around them.
Spoon recipients 2013, and Hayne flopped in the final two rounds of 2014 when we could have limped into the finals. Hayne started phoning it in (and thinking about his other/next "dreams") well before he finally left at end 2014, so alas I don't think there would have been any lethal combining as such.

He still should be out on bail pending his appeal bro

Hayne was the best player on the field in the final round of 2014.

So are you also saying that because Moses was offered $1.5m by the Tigpies, that we shouldn't be allowed to sign him for $1.2m?

It's a fair point. What use is the salary cap if players reject bigger offers? If the weak clubs have to pay more for players they will stay weak.

This is how its done Matterson, ffs...

Radley only cares about winning football matches. Matterson pumps all his cash into his disabilities charity and protein supplements. He doesn't want to waste it on fines.
