Shorten will get in on the back of how geniused the Liberal party has become with it's internal wrangling over it's lurch to the right. These very same people you claim here are "laughing at the soft touch they have become" are the ones who are tearing the party apart.

These bumbling idiots have shown no respect for the position entrusted upon them by the Australian people, and for that they will be hit with a very large stick come May. That's where the backlash will come from, just as it did with Rudd / Gillard / Rudd.

The Liberals absolutely needed to learn the lessons that period in our politics provided them yet all they have shown is the ability to make the same mistakes, and the inclination to treat the electorate with the same contempt. Their distancing themselves from the results we have seen yesterday is only further evidence of this,To believe that as the country becomes more partisan that the voters of Victoria have not tarred the state branch with the same brush they are tarring the federal branch, is truly head in the sand stuff.
